I read in another message that this exists, possibly by using a IIsi ROM? Does anyone have any details on this little trick?-- If I could time-travel to the 80s and sell all the old Macs I've got, I could retire! |

Macintosh IIsi Developer Note:

The Macintosh IIsi Computer uses a universal ROM that will run any of the Macintosh II-family computers.
The Se/30 is basically a IIcx with a PDS connector instead of a NuBus Bridge chipset and a rudimentary video subsystem, AFAIK. jt ™. Trash Hauler: call sign: eight-ball C.O. AC-130H SpecOps 68kMLAAF |

Trash is correct, and I personally have run an SE/30 (with A/UX, no less) with a IIsi ROM. This ROM makes the SE/30 32-bit clean, which is good since A/UX likes more than 8MB RAM.Matt No rank Permanent 68k roommates: - "PowerMystic" Color Classic, 66MHz PPC601 card, full '040, 36/1.2G/enet, OS 8.1 - "Mystic" Color Classic, full '040, 36/700/enet, OS 8.1 - Q605 overclocked to 33MHz, full '040, 36/1.2G/enet, 8.1, Debian Woody |

Would a IIci ROM card work as well? I found a IIci upgrade kit on eBay that includes an upgraded IIci ROM SIMM. Otherwise I may have to go digging for a IIsi. Thanks for all the help!-- If I could time-travel to the 80s and sell all the old Macs I've got, I could retire! |

It MIGHT work, I haven't heard of that one, the IIfx I've heard has worked, but I have a feeling that the SLIGHTLY more than rudimentary onboard video subsystem of the IIci could cause problems, but that would be true of the IIsi's also, but that's tagged as a "universal ROM" . . . hrmmm?Check out the ROM info in the link in the "The Best ROMs" thread for clues. jt ™. AFAIK only the IIsi and IIfx ROMs will work in an SE/30.Matt No rank Permanent 68k roommates: - "PowerMystic" Color Classic, 66MHz PPC601 card, full '040, 36/1.2G/enet, OS 8.1 - "Mystic" Color Classic, full '040, 36/700/enet, OS 8.1 - Q605 overclocked to 33MHz, full '040, 36/1.2G/enet, 8.1, Debian Woody |

Check here:http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2/ Bottom left corner has the info for the SE/30. You need to read the link SE/30 with 0S 7.6.1, 8.0, 8.1 for the in fo on the IIsi and IIfx ROMs. NOtice that Gamba has put up a link for a hacked IIci ROM. Haven't read it yet but it should you some clues as to what he is up to Kami
