I'm so thrilled to have found the 68kMLA. I'm constantly liberating 68k Macs and putting them to good use. To date I have:

- Rescued a Plus from a thrift store for $10, got a bunch of System 6 apps and used it to write a novel and a screenplay, as a Unix terminal and as a game machine
- Rescued a 512k from a garage sale for $5, gave it a new keyboard and mouse (thank you eBay) and played a heck of a lot of Missile Command and Star Wars with it
- Rescued two Powerbook 170s from eBay ($29 apiece), used parts from the two to make one functioning machine and I use it every day at work and on the bus as a general purpose laptop, complete with EN/SC Ethernet
- Rescued a Powerbook Duo 230 and Dock from a thrift store, gave it Ethernet and gave it to my wife to use
- Rescued a Mac IIci from the garbage and have started an ambitious IIci recording studio project (so far added 128 MB RAM, DigiDesign hardware, SCSI CD-ROM, 4.5GB Wide-SCSI HD and FWB JackHammer card, 24-bit accelerated video, all found on eBay, total cost so far under $100) and will soon pop a Turbo 040 in there and a copy of ProTools. I'll probably also add Ethernet, a color scanner and Photoshop just for fun.

The three main machines in my 68k life are my PB 170 (Tim). He rocks. My IIci (Eno). He's going to rock. My Plus, Cleo. She's a doll. Oh sure I have a G4 tower and an iMac and an iBook but I LOVE my 68k Macs!!! What kinda rank do I get here?

Ry

As a new member, you're welcome to choose a rank, but not something overly high. Have a look at other people's sigs, and choose a rank and/or divison.

Welcome to the MLA! Good to have you here.

Sure why not? And while I am here I will say although I'm not liberating 68K macs right now, I think my PPC guys will be happy to have a new home.

Let me know how the Pro Tools install goes.. I would love to be doing this.. my current recording setup is with Coaster through my 7500's AV inputs (RCA) which is pretty ass..

Anyone have a link to that harware hack/mod to let you turn an Apple microphone (the newer, powered kind) into a line-in? I know it was in MacWorld or MacAddict, but I can't find the issue with it.. arg.
