As cool as this is (built in framebuffer for console etc. etc.) the floppy driver is non existant.

What do people know about how the floppy drives on macs work. Assumedly it's nothing like on a PC or someone would have written a driver by now.

Perhaps it's time to relearn C and do some kernel hacking.

The Mac uses a proprietary SWIM (Super Woz Integrated Machine) floppy controller, the successor to the earlier WIM (Woz Integrated Machine) that only supported 800K floppies.
