Seems like you only need a DB25 to DIN8 cable for external modems.

yup, i got a great 56k portable modem from the OEM to replace the Newer LinkCom for my 2300c. it works fine on my 2300c with the palm adapter(maybe a gender changer too?), but one of the two requires the special cable that came with the LinkCom. i think maybe the adapter in the palm connection kit might not have all the lines implemented, so you might want to make sure about that if you need to buy an adapter. jt ™

About 90% of 'PC' (external) modems will work with a Mac - all you need is the right driver. Hayes Accura 28.8 and Farallion Neotopia will usually do the trick. Hayes neotopia what!? If you're using Open Transport, then these are just some of the names you'll find in the drop down menu of the Modem Control Panel - the files themselves are located in a folder called Modem Scripts, inside the Extensions folder.3Com and Banksia drivers/scripts are fairly easy to find.... 68k MLA ParaMedic |

I have a USR 33.6 PC modem working with the Mac. All you need is a modem script (see the tutorial on MacInstruct on how to edit up one) and a DB25 to DIN8 cable.Macs Liberated: SE, IIsi, Quadra 700, 6100, PB 5300, PowerMac 5400 PCs liberated from Windows: 3 |

the vast majority of users won't need to look any further for drivers than the list of modem choices in their ISP's setup screen. that's what to look at when you find a modem or scribble on paper to carry in your wallet while on the prowl!does a database of modems/drivers/adapters for 68kMacs exist? sounds to me like the link needs to be found for our site or a new content project is now in need of volunteers! jt ™

If you need a good modem, look for these:PowerUser modems US Robotics modems PowerUSer is defunct now (I think) and would only be used. Used modems are always a gamble on if they will work properly, since people usually only replace modems when they die.
US Robotics modems are robust, and use generic Hayes compatible scripts. Guaranteed to work easily. ~Marchie ~Chaplain Marchie Holder of the Compact Mac - -Stick of Justice, with Explodeing CRT head -Wand of Power with Shocking Flyback Transformer Tip ~~"We are all Mad here"~~ |
