Radius PrecisionColor Pro 24 Compatibility w/ PM 6100

I know that the card was released a year earlier than the original Power Mac series and I was able to find only known compatibility with 68k Nubus machines. Any chance the card and software would work on a Power Mac 6100, and if so, would it be at all better than the on-board video?

It needs the latest ROM for full PPC compatibility; onboard video is generally faster than Nubus but a good graphics card will enable greater colour depths and resolutions

I think it can technically be made to work, but there a a couple of reasons you might want to go with eg. an HPV card instead:
- you will need the PM6100 PDS to NuBus adapter, which can be expensive
- you will need to reposition the hard drive and possibly remove the internal bracket to get it to fit, since it looks like a full length 12" card which don't normally fit inside the PM6100 case
- the bandwidth to the HPV PDS card is several times faster than to a NuBus card, not sure the hardware acceleration on the card will make up for it
So unless there are very specific reasons for using the Radius card, it might be better to get an HPV card instead (or even an A/V card) and save the Radius card for a more traditionally NuBus-focused mac.

I have a Nubus adapter already, and I'm eyeballing a 7-inch PrecisionColor Pro 24 card that won't overlap. However, if the built-in video is faster and the HPV card is faster still, then I'll save up for a PDS to HPV adapter and probably sell the Nubus adapter. Thanks for the advice!
