Something very strange is happening to me, and perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but I have a PM 7600 that has a Sonnet G4 upgrade, and it came with a non-functional SCSI CD drive. I've managed to get a couple of working drives, one DVD-ROM and one CD-RW, but both give me the same result: they recognize the drive, they recognize the inserted CD, but they don't mount it. I've tried both OS 9.1 and OS 8.6. Both installations are clean, freshly done, from an external SCSI CD-ROM. Could it be that I'm missing some extension?
Am I doing something wrong? Since the SCSI hard drive has a termination, I'm not setting the jumper to TERMINATION on the drives.
