I'm working on a Mac Classic that suffered the usual battery damage in the top right corner of the board.
I recapped the mainboard and fixed broken traces and vias. I measured through and replaced a few SMD resistors on the back. I replaced the little oscillator next to the RTC. I cleaned many rows of legs on ICs and reflown a lot of them too. I checked the voltages on the board (4.95V and 11.91V). I reseated and deoxit-ed the ROM IC. I haven't replaced the battery yet.
The hard disk spins up on starting the computer, the floppy disk isn't showing any sign of life.
I'm getting the normal chequered background and the mouse pointer, which I can move. Switching the machine on with Option Command X O pressed doesn't do anything (though I can't tell if the keyboard is actually working).
And that's where it's stuck. No further message after this, no flashing question mark or anything.
Does this sound familiar to anyone and do you have suggestions where I could look for a fault?
