Innecto: A new game for System 7 (68000) and soon (I hope) earlier systems too

Is this a first? Have any other games been ported from modern macOS (iOS, iPad OS etc) to vintage systems? Even if it isn't a first, it can't have been done all that often! In any event, here it is - my game Innecto (which you can read more about here) ported to my system of choice (a Mac SE, since you ask).

This isn't finished yet (it's got its fair share of bugs and incomplete / unimplemented functionality), so please don't be helpful and upload it to the Garden just yet. I'll upload it eventually, when it's complete.

So far, this version has been tested on an LC475 (System 7.6), a Mac SE (System 6.0.8) and a Mac 512ke (System 2.1). As you go older, you lose out on functionality (colour, then sound) and (alas) it now seems to require a full 128k to run (so it probably won't work on an original Mac - but I don't have one to test). I hope you enjoy it - and let me know how you get on.

105K only? That's some efficient programming! Just played through the first 10 levels in Basilisk II and I'm really liking it.

I won't upload it to Macintosh Garden but I can't promise I won't upload it to my BBS...

That version still has a bunch of debug in it, and some sloppy wet code for formatting text. There’s still some functionality missing / broken - but I think that I can fix that and bring the size down further.

I had a vague idea that I’d like to get it running on every Apple device capable of some kind of graphic display. I even started work on a minimal version for the Apple II. But then my wife asked if I was doing a version for the Newton too - and I don’t have one of those anymore, and I realised I was in danger of getting stuck in a rabbit hole. Besides. Then I’d have to do a version for the original iPod too!

So. I need to focus. There’s a new version of Innecto for modern machines in the pipe, and a new version of MailRaider. I’d probably better finish those. Then chipwits. Then Petscii robots. Then something else…

Oh - and I really need to add this to the documentation for Innecto - if you press the option key then the rotation direction reverses.
