Hello everyone! Several years ago I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a Genesis MP+ 800. It had been my grail machine since I was twelve years old… it was in perfect condition… everything worked perfect. I was in heaven. I’d made plans to get rid of my beige G3s, 9600s, decided to keep an 8600 that I had Rhapsody running on… I find homes for all of them, including sacrificing a 9600 so a guy with a PEX motherboard could give it a home.
And then my Genesis gets stolen… I was crushed, I got out of the retro computing hobby for years.
Fast forward to last week, I don’t know how it happened but I got the bug again… so I started looking. And looking.
I would love to have another shot to own one of these, but I don’t expect it to happen. Those who have them are either as enamored with these machines as I am or want ridiculous amounts of money ($2500!) if anyone does have a line on one though… please think of me!
Barring that… while browsing the retro Mac rabbit hole I found some people who have 3d printed replacement 9600 bezels, and even one person made a bunch of Wuadra 700 cases to put an ITX pc in! So I got to thinking maybe I can get a 9500 motherboard and put it in a pc tower… and 3d print the Genesis front panel and bezels.
Is there anyone on the forum who has access to one of these machines who could help me with measurements and some specific pictures that nothing on the web covers? I’ve PMd a few people already but i figured it never hurts to ask The Who group and see if anyone can help.
