Adjusting width of CRT picture

Hello. I recently installed a new analog board in my Mac 128k and the picture on the screen is too narrow. I need to adjust the width. However, I have never adjusted a CRT and I have not been able to find a good YouTube. I have read online that it can be a fraught process. I have some chopsticks I was planning to mold to fit. Question--should I undertake this or just leave it?

All depends on what you want it to look like. There is the "correct" size, and what you like. I like mine to be set to the factory size, which has a black border around the image. How wide is your image? It is super easy to change it.

I guess what I'm wondering is whether I'm risking my life or in danger of destroying the computer. :) I haven't messed with a CRT before.

Nah, you'll be fine. Just don't touch anything behind the analog board and don't use anything conductive and you'll be fine. While it's on, just rotate the width pot a little, I think it's to the right to expand it?

If you don’t mess around with your bare fingers or metal, don’t bother too much.
The analog B is protected with a plastic shield so adjusting is pretty straightforward.

Okay. The adjustments are done on the side of the analog board with the plastic shield then, not the side with the caps, transformers, etc? Just making sure.
