What is the best DVD replacement for the G4, I have a Digital Audio and the DVD drive is not working. I get lost with all the options, but want the most modern DVD options for dual layer and R+ if able.
Rominator I is working great but the boot sound seems to have a click sound or abrupt cut at the end of the chime.
Looks like it is well seated and working otherwise. Stock rom without any boot chime issue.
Any one run in to this problem before....
Wondering if anyone has a solution to using Timbuktu Pro 4 and System 7.5.5. If running the computer hangs on shutdown; I can see the Timbuktu icon disappear in the right upper corner after selection of shutdown; then can use mouse only and computer hangs and doesn't shut down -- need to unplug...
Make sure you don’t have the netatalk -no password setting. This prevents the saving of passwords on the client side…pulled my hair out for a while on this one.
Thanks for the guidance. Got it working on the MacPlus using 6.0.8 and a localtalk cable to the IIci -- running 7.5.5 and OT with LocalTalk Bridge enabled.
I updated the firmware on my zuluscsi. Seems to work a bit better with getting the Appletalk server to show up and log into it.....but......
On reboot I continue to get the System Address Error, can't get around it even with holding shift down.
I need to remove the prep files and sometimes...
@croissantking, did you ever figure out this problem. I have a similar issue with my buzzing stepper motor. I swapped a good stepper and similar issue.
I'm starting to think it is the Floppy controls on the logic board that I need to address. I already have some power off issues with the board that I need to look into given that capacitor leak affected that area of the board. It has been recapped but the previous owner needed to do some bodge...
On a separate thread there was mention of the Q3 and Q9 resistors being the problem. When I put my ear to the drive I do hear a faint buzz from the motor?
I’ll look into testing on another machine. I have an se/30 too but it is being fixed in a separate repair. I know the external port works...
Looking to see if the replacement of the Q4 or Q9 helped and if you can point me to the equivalent part. I can't find 2SB624-BV4 on mouser or DigiKey. I think I'm having the same issue with the motor buzzing but no movement.
Working with a problematic drive. It is a 1.4K drive from a IIci that doesn't spin up. There is no head movement on boot. It does seem to "recognize" a disk with insertion but does not seem to move, head seek or spin with insertion. The only indication that it is "working" at all is when a disk...
Still having weird behavior with the set up after a fresh 6.0.8 install on the Zuluscsi SD.
I can get it finally to connect to the AppleTalk server. But reliability on reboot it has an address error.
This is using the following:
MacTCP setup using manual settings and the choice in the Control...
I have finally got it to work with your suggestion of installing the driver first and then the Network Installer.
However it is really wonky and on reboot it crashes with an address error.
The whole selection of Local talk is full of error dialog boxes stating that it can't switch to EtherTalk...
I’m trying to use AppleTalk to a Netatalk service. I already have an SE/30 on 7.5.3 (using Zuluscsi Wifi to connect) which is working well to connect and know the Netatalk service is working (with Phase 2 Ethertalk option active). I can also see the service on my modern Mac and share files to...
Thanks for the suggestions.
I have used the following replacements from Digikey:
a) 6 pin Res Array 3 Res 470 ohm 6SIP
b) 5 pin Res Array 4 Res 10k ohm 5SIP
I'm not sure if these are right? there are a lot of options on Digikey. Sorry if I don't have a clear understanding of what to purchase...
