Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

I am taking on making a PCB for the buttons, piezo and dimmer. I found the right tactile switches and rotary encoder and have ordered a batch of them. I'll design the board and order them blank on OSHpark so the wholehting should only be a few bucks. This way you can just unscrew and remove the...

Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

I think I found a solution to eliminating the need to mod the maclock usb Board. Can make a 3d printer mounting bracket for one this cable and plug it right into the usb charging board. Done! Thin Flexible USB C Type C Cable 20W Powerful 480Mbps Transfer for Multiple Mobile Phone Devices...

Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

That could work. Well an unpopulated PCB from OSHpark would only be a couple bucks. But then you'd have to desolder the components on the Maclock or could find them on DigiKey etc and hand solder them. A populated board from JLCPCB would be a bit more expensive. But after i design the board I...

Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

On the modding of the maclock PCB where you have to cut it with a dremel and solder the JST cable to it, would you rather have: A) a new PCB included that you would have to desolder the buttons, piezo, and rotary control off the maclock board and transplant to the new board so you don’t need to...

Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

🤣 I was thinking about both of those. Could ditch the usb board on back altogether and make a new one. And I thought about including a spudger and some info on best technique. I’m starting to get a system for cracking it open figured out but man what a pain. After I get it open the first thing...

Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

Sure... its not much to print them, they are tiny and can be low res. OK so I could provide: Essentials: • My Audio & Power management PCB + components (1 p-channel mosfet, 1 2222 transistor, 3 resistors, 1 flashed ATTiny 85, 1 8 pin IC socket) • All JST cables needed for the build • Flashed...

Maclock to Mac Plus Conversion kits

Hi all, Is there any interest in conversion kits for those Maclock's? I have spend a lot of time on mine and now that I have the 3d printed mounting hardware, a custom designed PCB and a completely modified disk image for the Pi, it wouldn't take much to put some kits together for anyone else...

How to modify the launch screen of the Macin Tower

    PowerBook Duo battery replacement

I know you can read data off of a DS2300 using an ardiuono but havent found out how to emulate the chip itself. would you need any support hardware or could you do it with the ATTiny by itself?

Powerbook Duo Battery Pack types and compatability

Ahhh. Bummer I don’t have one of those anymore to even try. I had a 540c but sold it a while back. Yeah those smart chips are a big hurdle to get through. The next one on my list is the Pismo / Lombard. In these duo packs, they’ve got a DS400 in them that had a unique customer ID and serial...

Powerbook Duo Battery Pack types and compatability

Finished my pack. Used ternegy 2000mah AA nimh and get 2 hours at full discharge. Now I need to figure out how to replicate the serial off the DS400 so I can make more.

    PowerBook Duo battery replacement

Finished my repro pack. I used the Ternegy 2000mah AA batts. I get 2 hours minimum from battery amnesia. Unfortunately I don’t have a way yet to duplicate the serial number on the DS2400 chips so an original battery is still required to build a pack.

Powerbook Duo Battery Pack types and compatability

I opened the 2300c up and set my bench supply to 1.6A / 12v and connected to the battery terminals direct and it would not boot. Then connected the ID chip and it booted right up.

    PowerBook Duo battery replacement

I bought the same 2/3A batteries from the same link above and they are too wide to fit in the enclosure. At least the replica one I have modeled to 3d print. They are wider than standard AA batteries right? Can I use higher Mah batteries? Would these work for example: https://a.co/d/bErZy60

Powerbook Duo Battery Pack types and compatability

Thanks for the info. Might be my powerbook then. I wonder how crucial that like ID component is. I ownder if you were to just supply 12V to the far ent terminals if it would boot normally. Mine doesnt.

Powerbook Duo Battery Pack types and compatability

Hey All, I rebuilt a test pack for my 2300 and, although it is charging it will not power the machine. it shuts down immediatley when disconnecting the external A/C adapter. Are the battery types not interchangeable between Duo versions? I have two packs. One is a model #M7782 and the other...

    PowerBook 3500 video repair

Well unfortunately the issue came back. I haven’t figured it out yet. It’s rather applying head fixes it temporarily for I can’t get a good connection on the board to all 4 rams. I kept working on it all night and made things worse. Going to go through all connections carefully and hopefully get...
