Chop Orinoco Silver PCMCIA card into Airport slot

I mean, I already send sensitive information to the public internet, how much more risky could this be? The WEP leak requires the attacker to be physically proximal to your network and deliberately trying to attack, and since wardriving hasn't been a thing in at least a decade now, unless you...

@CircuitBored, if you're out of these boards, would you consider open-sourcing the designs so we can build our own?

Is my MessagePad 2000's screen dying?

Not seeing any Newton LCDs on your website, are any still available?

Is my MessagePad 2000's screen dying?

Hey, me too! Didn't know there were any other Newton users here.

Why can't I burn an install disc for my Pismo from a modern Mac?!

This is driving me bonkers. At some point in the past I made a bootable install disc for this Pismo. Ever since then, though, I cannot burn a CD or DVD that works. USB SuperDrive, burns discs that the MacBook reads fine, pop them in the Pismo, no dice. I have an OS 9 install CD it will read but...

Chop Orinoco Silver PCMCIA card into Airport slot

The point is to use machines which have internal AirPort cards, running classic MacOS, for which there are no 802.11g card drivers. Also, who is doing anything worth spying on with a thirty-year-old computer? That is a fake problem 😆

Chop Orinoco Silver PCMCIA card into Airport slot

I’ve also had it go the other way, the Orinoco drivers recognized my AirPort card

Is SideTrack still available? I can no longer live without trackpad scrolling.

Chop Orinoco Silver PCMCIA card into Airport slot

Interesting. They’re practically laying around on the ground in the US. Might be worth international shipping, I’ve been surprised how cheap it is sometimes to send stuff across the pond.

Pismo Mac OS X 10.4.11 Orinocco Silver drivers?

Fair nuff. Personally, having delicate stuff sticking out the side of the machine concerns me. Well worth the $20-30 an AP card costs, IMO.

Pismo Mac OS X 10.4.11 Orinocco Silver drivers?

Why not just get an AirPort card? They're cheap as.

So what's new with your Newton?

I’ve been using it to keep to-do lists and journal. I had been using a Palm V, as I find ‘out of band’ organizing to work best for me (my iPhone is a box of distractions and notification fatigue), but Palm OS, for as brilliant as it is doing so much with so little, is…uninspiring. The small...

Any recommendations for fun / interesting / useful Newton software?

The Psion commercial developer community gave out universal serial codes several years ago, and I’ve actually had good luck emailing the developers who didn’t and them being pleasantly surprised enough that people are still interested in their software that they’re happy to release serial codes...

3D Print MessagePad 2000 Battery Tray

The prices listed on the website are insane, and they mentioned that their current prices are lower and the website hasn’t been updated in a while.

Well, I was just about to ask if anyone had replaced the useless modem card in a Pismo, and here you are doing it. Case mod is not ideal, for sure, but the way I was going to go about it is to ditch the totally-useless-in-2025 S-Video port and mount the Mini-DIN upside down in its place. Does...
