Check for bent pin if applicable in the connection. Try doing a fresh install of an os via the dock. Definitely recap the logic board if not done.

Yup, got the apple vision installer off of a legacy apple cdrom and all is good on the 6100:) so now will do my 7100. So nice to change resolutions

So i made a custom mac 8100/100 in a 7600 case. So far all good. Just need to clean up io port area. I have an hpv nubus video card in it. I have used the apple vision with a 6100, a 7100 both with onboard video and the av cards. Sometimes i get weirdness with the monitor and cant get anything...

Well, found a broken trace i thought was fixed but no, was still broken lol.. so now all works good:)

So grabbed a local classic for fun. Recapped it and cleaned. It was pretty nasty for cap leakage. Now its all recapped and working fine except sound. Checked traces, had to fix a few including a broken trace from y1 to rtc. Still no sound. Removed sound chip and checked everything, put back on...

The fan is the worst to remove. Grab and squeeze near bottom on both sides and pull up. Don’t knock yourself out when it comes out.

Yup, hot air for removing ic’s etc. gentle push and twist of old caps is my go to method. For some reason hot air does not work well for me with caps, Either putting on or taking off. Have to be so careful to with hot air that other things dont start moving around as solder melts. Once your good...

Sometimes you can just turn the cap and solder to the via. Give a little scrape for clean copper on via. Or you can use solder wick with solder in it and make new pads but attaching the wick to the vias then solder cap to the wick after.

Found the exact same chip on a dead iivx board. Replaced it now i i dont get a flashing question mark. So hard to say if chip was dead already, or hot air killed it?? It did have corrosion on legs too.. argh!

Anyone know what scsi chip controls scsi bus on powerbook 100?

So i decided to find a home for the 8100/110 for now. Accidentally called it an 8500 in video. I have a psu coming from a friend. Might paint the case black or retro it and custom a sticker that says 8100/110 custom or desktop

So recapping is done. Board works fine. 48 megs memory. Not sure if i will hack a case up for it. Will put it in the for sale section and see if anyone needs it. Just need money back plus caps. No charge on the recap. If no interest is then will see. Just an impulse need to recap something lol..

What? Thats cool. I have two as well. One stock and one upgraded to 400mhz g3, and the nicer video input / output wings card plus scsi burner cdrom.
