Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
SSI is Sonic Systems. The Sonic Systems drivers are available here, it also works with my drivers. As that card only has 16KB of SRAM, the built in drivers are good, there isn't going to be any benefit using other drivers.
I think I might be able to shed some light on this. I think the "12- and 13-inch Monitor Timing" that press release is referring to is the 640x480@67Hz mode, which is supported by Apple 12" monochrome monitors. The "512 by 384 pixel (default mode)" is listed under "RGB interlaced video...
I have this card, which appears to be a Spectrum 24 IV, but looks very similar to higher end cards. I was wondering if it might just be a Spectrum 24 IV ROM in a higher end card, but it also has an ASSY sticker with 0008235-0001.
Here is a closeup on the ROM, and it also has a 40MHz crystal...
There is a thread on fixing this problem over at TinkerDifferent https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/asante-mc3nb-rev-g-nubus-nic-getting-10base-t-working.2040/. The automatic link detection on the MC3NB isn't compatible with ethernet switches that do Auto MDI-X. Changing R28 on the MC3NB from...
I have an old physical copy of the "EtherTalk and Alternate AppleTalk Connections Reference". However I believe everything in that is also in newer documents like IM Networking, which is why I haven't bothered trying to scan it yet.
Source for my EtherLink NB driver is already on that page. I'll try and find some time to put the source for the Etherport II driver up there as well.
The drivers are very similar, both cards use the DP8390. Most of the differences are around the Etherport II having a different memory layout...
I have a thread over on TinkerDifferent on how to modify the MCNB and MCLC to get them to work with modern ethernet switches https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/fixing-10base-t-on-more-ethernet-cards.2188/
It is a compatibility problem between the way these cards try to automatically detect...
You could try my driver for this card https://www.mactcp.net/ethernet.html
I was just testing a new build of the driver that has a fix for a VM performance problem with an identical looking Novel branded Etherport II, and it was working for me.
The compatibility problems I've seen with newer...
I've been exploring options for this. The Mac II power supplies I have, both the Sony and the Astec, have Panaflo FBH-08A12H fans. This is not the FBK, the FBH has a larger hub motor with small stubby fins, and probably has to spin faster to get the same air flow as a result. The Mac IIfx power...
