    Another C500

I love the Umax SuperMac c500 as well! I have two, a 180 and a 200, although the 180’s power supply is dead. 🙁 Is it possibly the most compact old world Mac …with two PCI slots? When I was in college in the late 90s we used a c500 as the NAT router for our college newspaper office to get all...

Are there any 1000 Base-T PCI cards for a PT Pro?

Something like this should work: https://www.ebay.com/itm/396921024428 https://www.ebay.com/itm/236458336933 I did some tests a while back and 100Mbps "Fast" Ethernet does make a difference. These tests were from/to my Raspberry Pi 4 "retro home server" running MacIPRpi (1Gbps Ethernet) with...

PowerBook 150 installer woes with CF-to-IDE adapter

Not silly, I would think it should/could have worked, I can’t say for sure where/what the limiting factor is. System 7.1.x (which the PB 150 shipped with) is supposed to support up to 2GB partitions. I know I tried a 4GB industrial card that didn’t work. There is also the possibility that these...

PowerBook 150 installer woes with CF-to-IDE adapter

I have larger CF (still industrial) cards in my PB 1400 (8 GB) and Quadra 630 (4GB), formatted with Drive Setup. The PowerBook 150 is an odd duck in its IDE implementation, natively it cannot use any version of “Drive Setup” instead requiring the use of its bespoke “Internal HD Format” utility...

PowerBook 150 installer woes with CF-to-IDE adapter

Ditto. I have a Transcend Industrial 1GB Compact Flash card in my PowerBook 150. Definitely had problems with other “regular” cards, larger cards I tried first, either wouldn’t be seen by Internal HD Format tool, would fail format, or would fail when trying to install OS.

I've had the same experience. I've wondered if it has something to do with the tolerances of the RAM and/or VRAM I'm using.

    Interware Booster 30-SE50F Info Dump

Thanks. I bought a custom ROM SIMM years ago or my IIsi which I had forgotten the particulars of, it is is a GG Labs SIMM! Its really not doing much in my IIsi other than making is possible to boot from ROM for fun (or if the HD dies, needs troubleshooting...) so I think I will move it over to...

    Interware Booster 30-SE50F Info Dump

From: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/different-rom-se-30.50996/post-574603 In anticipation of receiving a socketed Booster v2 from you (thanks!) I'm trying to make sure I understand how best to make use of the ROM booster feature. Hardware wise there is a jumper for enabling ROM...

Is my Performa 475 killing the VRAM?

Do you have a PRAM battery installed? I'm pretty sure the LC475 is unique in that form factor in needing a working PRAM battery for video to work. I think folks have some luck with quickly turning the power supply switch on, off, and on again to sort of jump start it without a battery.

    LC/LCII Power Supply Replacements?

    LC/LCII Power Supply Replacements?

I believe the stock LC power supplies are between 3.25A and 4.75A for 5V so 2A might not be enough. They are 0.75A to 1A for 12V so 2A should be more than enough there. There is the "POWER UP PIZZA" from CayMac, I built one recently, sourcing the Mean Well power supply modules from mouser...

    Release of MacIPRpi 6.02

That jibes with what I see under Mac OS 8.6 but not 7.5, there I see the "leftmost" icon, not your new icon. Could this be because my 7.5 machine is doing AFP over AppleTalk and the 8.6 one is doing AFP over TCP/IP?

    Release of MacIPRpi 6.02

Very Interesting! One thing though, from my screenshoots above it looks like Mac OS 8.6 is displaying the custom icon from the AppleShare volume (not ignoring it in favor of the Finder's own default icons). Maybe Mac OS 8 unintentionally did this (bug that was subsequently fixed)? Or was this in...

    Release of MacIPRpi 6.02

Thanks for the reply, I should have found the "volume name" thing, doh! The Netatalk progress has been amazing, I did find the answers to so many of my questions in the docs (got Webmin working for example), thank you for all your hard work! On the icons I totally get it, makes sense (even if I...

    Release of MacIPRpi 6.02

Working on retiring my MacIPRpi 5 home retro server in favor of a "new" MacIPRpi 6 one. Have them set up in parallel at the moment and pretty much everything moved over and working with one cosmetic thing bugging me, the AppleTalk share name and icon. Not sure how to control the...

    BlueSCSI on SE/30 problem

The icon in that error message appears to be representing an external floppy disk drive, do you have one of those connected? If not something is making your Mac think that you do? ...or maybe that dialog icon is used for external removable SCSI drives, I take it you don;t have one of those...
