Just what I need to do. Buy another Mac!
I currently have:
3 portables (1 restored 2 in bad shape)
A Mac 512
A plus
A PowerBook 180 that needs an lcd
A PowerBook g3 lombard
A PowerBook g3 Kanga (needs restoration / repair)
A couple g5 and Mac pros in storage
The IICX
A few other more modern PPC...
Yeah I was wondering the same. My original drive is on its last leg but there wasn’t anything worthwhile on it anyway. I’ve got a newly formatted second drive in it now and an external BlueSCSI.
The logic board is passing diagnostics and disk doctor passed on the replacement drive.
All...
Me neither, and I dont remember it from back in the early days.. the only difference with this machine now from then is I had a radius rocket card in it before so that woulda been an 040 processor.
System 7.5.3 must have the thread manager built in since theres no extension and it fails there...
Found it after posting.. its a conflict with Apple Thread Manager. At least it is in system 7
my 7.5.3 doesn't have that though and it fails still there..
Anyone know what the cause of this "disk full" error I keep keep getting when 32 bit addressing is enabled to access my full 32MB of ram?
Its a Mac IICX and certain programs cant save to disk.. They error out with a -34 Disk Full alert.
so far the problem apps i've discovered are:
THINK C -...
I did already :( All 3 versions are on Macintosh garden 1.1, 1:2, and 1.3.
It’s a bummer I finally got my iicx I had in the early 90s fixed and then both the radius rocket and the spigot card don’t work 😭
Well the subject is Video Spigot issues and the discussion involved versions of the software so I figured whats the harm and why bother creating an entirely new "Video Spigot" thread since it is an extremely rare card and subject...
Hey so I just dug my video spigot card out and put it in my newly repaired Mac IICX and the card shows up under MacEnvy and TattleTech on NuBus but when I launch ScreenPlay v1.1.1 the YenYang icon spins for a second and then the mouse freezes and computer locks up.
I have tried:
• System 7.1 &...
Just got a happy chime :D
Bad UJ3.. it looked pretty bad.
I went ahead and lifted UJ1,2, and 3 and cleaned the pads up good and im replacing all 3 with new ones now.
After that I'll see what the NUBUS and video loos like 🤞
Ok good to know and now if I knew what exactly the P.O.S.T checks. I know it checks ram. My SIMMs are tested good. I am suspecting it’s the MUX chips below the SIMMs
Thanks for confirming. The problem is I don’t know what the state of the video cards are so I want them out of the loop. With none card in there’s no difference. Same death chime the instant I power on and no activity on the display. With the other card there’s no chime at all. So I plan to...
I fixed the power circuit issues. So now the soft power and original PSU are working. Still tracking down the chime of death cause.
Quick question. Does a healthy IICX make a normal startup chime if it has ram but no video card in the NuBus slot?
Would like to know if I can put video aside...
OK OEM power supply is good,. the problem is the +5 feed to pin 9 to turn it on is too weak causing it to collapse. if i disconnect that pin and jumper it myself to pin 10 then the board comes up (with the sad mac). while the board is running if i connect that back the power supply collapses...
I took the simms out of the plus and set them aside and then tested all of the iicx simms I have.
They are 1mb simms totalling 4mb per bank which is the maximum amount you can put in a Plus.
So now the IIcx has 4 1mb known good simms in bank A and bank B is empty.
