    BlueSCSI v2 Wi-Fi headachery

Also. Once the connection drops. It’s over. I don’t think the BlueSCSI tried to reconnect without a restart.

    BlueSCSI v2 Wi-Fi headachery

Yes they even talk about that in the wiki page somewhere. I don’t have that issue (yet) with the external DB25 BlueSCSI. Will see what happens when I put an internal one in the PowerBook. I also have Wi-Fi extenders all over. And speaking of that, I did discover what looks to be a bug. If you...

    BlueSCSI v2 Wi-Fi headachery

Hmm it can be finicky but I’ve had success with two now. One on PowerBook and another on a iicx. I’ve got them both talking over AppleShare and can remote control with Timbuktu. It won’t say “connected” but the name should show up in the menu with signal strength icon on left. It will say no...

    BlueSCSI v2 Wi-Fi headachery

It was for me too at first. One thing I noticed here was if it does not connect initially on power up of the BlueSCSI it never will retry. So what I did to troubleshoot what I set the SSID for the blueSCSI to one of my wifi extenders so i could monitor it connecting from an app on my phone. I...

    BlueSCSI v2 Wi-Fi headachery

Oops my bad I didn’t know you were on an LC 020. I reserved the ip on mine. Just picking one should work too as long as it’s not taken I suppose. It’s a TP-Link gigabit router. Most routers have a web portal you can configure stuff on. You sure yours doesn’t?

    BlueSCSI v2 Wi-Fi headachery

Maybe revert to MacTCP. It’s lighter weight and fewer pieces. Just the control panel and the Daynaport drivers. I’ve got it working on system 6.0.8 and 7.1. You have to reserve an IP on your router though. Then set your subnet mask. Probably 255.255.255.0 Set your router address. Mines...

    BlueSCSI v2 Wi-Fi headachery

I’m using 7.1 I think it’s been tested up to 7.5 and down to 6.0.8. Any 6 or 7 should work fine I bet.

    restoring a battery-bombed IIcx

I just found this thread so I am late to the party and need to read up but I have repaired two startup circuits already and have worked on / am working on 3 iicx boards. One is so bad on the battery area that it basically my needs to be redone completely. Mostly startup circuit in that area...

    BlueSCSI v2 Wi-Fi headachery

I had the same issue with MacTCP my DNS IP was getting a good ping but that was all. I changed to 8.8.8.8 and it solved the issue. I use MacTCP on on one setup for lighter weight and also required for system 6 or a 68000 Mac. I use OT with system 7 on 680x0 machines with more RAM.

Non backlit Mac portable: LCD lines

No. It’s a nightmare working on these. I went through 3 lcd panels and the third is perfect (as is) other than a dead pixel so I’m just crossing my fingers it stays that way.

Anyone up for some IIcx troubleshooting assistance? We have clocks but no activity...

Interesting ok I’ll try this when I dive back into it. I had to set it aside for a bit.

Vias on late early Mac boards

Ok that’s promising. I’ve got one IIcx that had such bad battery corrosion that there were green mountains all over and when I cleaned the corrosion off the chips were literally falling off the board. That whole corner where the soft power stuff is is gone. Most people would probably say the...

Vias on late early Mac boards

Great idea. I didn’t know they existed! Thnx. I have EagleCad that I use for my own boards. That should work right?

Vias on late early Mac boards

I haven’t finished yet. This board is 90% there though. It boots and then ram errors. It was completely THRASHED when I got it. I got it cheap on eBay. I think the seller tried to do a re-capping and threw in the towel. Lifted pads all over the place. All the connectors were melted so I replaced...

Vias on late early Mac boards

Anyone know know if the vias on these old boards connect to traces in the middle layers? I ask because I’ve got some badly corroded vias and traces forcing me to have to drill them out and run a wire through the board.

    PowerBook 180 tunnel bake aftermath

Yeah I bought a whole other on 180 and between the two have made a pretty mint machine. I’ve put a BlueSCSI in it and too. Two ram cards and transplanted ram from one to the other and maxxed out the ram and then I built a new battery pack for it. Now with the Wi-Fi BlueSCSI it gets online too so...

    Modding a ram expansion card

and almost break even after adding my labor into the mix! 😂 I actually got a pretty good deal on the 8mb. I haggled him down to $30. Another guy in France I think is making custom cards and they are really nice but $120 or so for a 10mb… a little pricey. But then the 512k chips themselves are...

    PowerBook 180 tunnel bake aftermath

Bummer. Mine worked out almost perfectly UNTIL I kept tinkering with it and eventually ruined the upper 20 horizontal rows by breaking traces on the board. The baking completely fixed the tunneling but I had a couple lines at the very top that were missing so I kept mucking around with it and...
