I don’t think it is the SIMMS or the sockets. I’ve cleaned them and tried multiple sets in multiple combinations but it could be ram related from a bad trace or back supporting / glue chip for sure. But I will double check and clean the simms and sockets to make sure.
It is sad Mac’ing with:
No cards installed at all.
Radius video card (and no life on the monitor)
It is NOT Sad Mac’ing (no signs of life) with:
Apple Macintosh II video card
Supermac video spigot card
Radius Rocket card
No logic analyzers. All I’ve been doing is touching pins with my oscilloscope probe to see if there’s any activity.
Haha well I scrubbed the board down and cleaned it a while ago. I will deoxit them today!
See above
I cleaned the board with toothbrush and alchohol after re-capping. It looks good to me. But I’ll give it another once over.
To answer your video card question see my post above. When I put the card in with the Apple Macintosh ii video card (or any other non video card) I get no...
I’m using the stock soldered on ROMs. I’ve got a lot of RAM to work with and I’ve tried different sets in different not the 4 A bank slots as well as both banks full but I have not conspired the timing. I will do that.
All sim slots are in great shape. No corrosion and no broken plastic.
One...
I’ve been through that phase though. I’ve re-capped it and fixed all the broken traces I could find so far and now I’ve got a sad Mac chime. Good news but still not there yet so now I am resorting to the scope…chances are it is a broken trace I haven’t found yet but I’ve been looking!
I will...
Awesome So how many would I need?
I want to connect a Macbook pro to at least one 68K mac (Portable, Plus, Powerbook 180)
Also I have an Atari STacy with a Spectre GCR Mac emulator running system 6.0.5. I guess that would be pushing it to try to get it to be able to transfer files between...
*** Did some more digging and continuity checked UH2 and UJ3 and they trace all the way to the UA5 ROM and no activity directly off the ROMs on those particular pins. Plenty of activity everywhere else on the ROM data and address lines so I assume this is normal.. I do get some activity on some...
I also checked all of the data lines on UD9,10,12,and 13 and there is activity..
I'm having a hard time reading the schematic on page 9 and 10 though, the NUBUS section. I cant tell what the rows of 22222 33333 4444 are supposed to be representing and which pins are going to the NUBUS...
Hey all,
Got back to the IICX repair project(s) today and I have some more parts, components, and new discoveries and could sure use some help if anyone is up for it.
So Since my las post I have acquired and repaired an AppleColor RGB monitor that I can use on the bench for troubleshooting the...
What’s the status of this project? If it is what I think it is it sounds awesome. You can transfer files from a Mac emulator to a 68k Mac over Wi-Fi as well as link two 68k makes over apple share through Wi-Fi?
Maser on the website it looks like the only option is to DIY one?
Should be fine. If it can take the 4 hours of abuse I gave it then there shouldn’t be a problem. Just go slow and be careful not to let the glass delaminate from the frame or then you have to go go through the alignment prrocess.
No guide. Just what I’ve found online and YouTube of what others have done.
I did 175 (180) degrees Fahrenheit for 8 hours.
Some do up to 220.
I used a temperature probe to check actual since my oven apparently runs hotter and only has 175 or 200 as a setting i stuck with 175 and the probe...
Update!
I fixed it. The screen is finally perfect. What a nightmare and a learning experience. It got so bad the were dead vertical and horizontal lines everywhere and I could it get it back in order. I almost threw in the towel. Then tried cleaning the traces where the zebra strives touch and...
Hey all,
So I just did the 8 hour lcd panel bake to fix the tunneling issue with the PowerBook 180 and all is good EXCEPT I just noticed that one vertical row of pixels is duplicate itself two pixels over. I’m not sure if I have introduced this problem or if it already existing and I never...
I remember these monitors always had a slight pin cushioning on the sides back in the day from the factory. Just a tiny bit. I always thought it looked cool. like it was supposed to be doing it because it was so high quality haha. like the top right example but much much less, Very subtle.
