Simple things first, is the termination enabled on the drive, or do you have an external terminator? SCSI needs one set of terminating resistors if there is only one thing on the bus, but needs 2 for two or more devices
This definitely sounds cool, I wonder if there's a way to configure it to run over Ethernet like Black Night without the WiModem232 (and a 232 to 422 adapter)
Keyword should, in my testing on an LC III (I had to hack 8.1 to run on this), and in BasiliskII, it does not disable the hide label menu check box on OS 8.1
if you can, buy a plastic poker and poke around the analog board to see if poking at a certain spot causes the video to come back then out, and try reflowing the component that causes it
honestly would be cool if somebody reverse-engineered one of these because serial mice are way easier to find than Macintosh ones, and I'm sure certain PS/2 ones would work in a serial to PS/2 adapter
