Try setting its SCSI ID to 1 if you can. If it's a Quantum drive I think you can change SCSI ID by changing the jumper on the drive's PCB http://insight.actapricot.org/insight/common/drives/hard/qlps52s.htm#jumper

What does Lido or SCSI Director say? Also hope you're not too flooded - we were meant to be heading up towards the midlands today but all the trains are knackered

Don't give up on it @SophieRose - I had the same a few months ago.

Generally I have more luck with HD SC Setup, but sometimes I need to format it in Drive Setup, then without restarting, format it with HD SC Setup... Or something weird like that :/
