The original batteries are 3.6V - would this not be feeding ~6V into each position?

Edit: Looking at the wiring I've been trying to figure it out. Are they just extended off motherboard soldered points instead of some series wiring? Dolphins are quite the choice for this, very security alarm installer.

@Compgeke you're absolutely correct I would be coming in 0.6v under (2 x 1.5v). For some reason I thought I read somewhere this configuration would work but was a while ago.

Each pair of AA's is directly wired into the original holder terminals, no series.

Also if you're going to do this, why not put the battery holders outside the case. AAs can still leak.

I definitely don't want the batteries outside my plan was to use an external SD-SCSI and mount the batteries where the HD normally sits. Will probably do same but with coin cells now. Thanks for all the input guys!
