64-Pin 4MB SIMMs for Apple Display Card 8*24 GC

How large would be appropriate in resolution? I'll try a 24-bit image.

64-Pin 4MB SIMMs for Apple Display Card 8*24 GC

@Siliconinsider they seem to work great! Thanks so much! I inserted two 4MB modules in my Thunder/24. They seem to need to be staggered (slots 1 and 3). What would be the best way to test the functionality of these? I believe Finder uses GWorld? So if it is working that's a good sign?

Didn't realize this thread was still active. I'd love to populate my Thunder 24.

Macintosh II (IIfx?) 699-0393 power supply capacitor list?

It powers on (but doesn't chime) when I press the power button on the back. I am going to recap the logic board and I was thinking of doing the power supply while I'm at it. But if that's not likely to be broken, maybe I'll skip it.

Macintosh II (IIfx?) 699-0393 power supply capacitor list?

I'm having trouble finding a list to recap a 699-0393. Apparently this is the PSU for a IIfx but it came in my II.

Transfer C source file from modern Mac to Classic Mac (Basilisk II)

Very cool! Definitely gives me some more ideas. Thanks for sharing this. Originally I was only interested in measuring performance on (old) accelerated hardware but perhaps it wouldn't take too much to include CPU rendering along side. Interesting your library was from Abrash, my idea was...

Transfer C source file from modern Mac to Classic Mac (Basilisk II)

... If people can swap out the images with a resource editor that's a good reason to do it that way. This was intended to run in 640KB (or less ideally) all told on MS-DOS so the idea was to have as little code as possible and use as little memory as possible. If it were going to be...

Transfer C source file from modern Mac to Classic Mac (Basilisk II)

No. It's "I just want it to work, whatever the path of least resistance to that is." Whatever way works to get the globe drawn on the screen is "how to do it". Delving into an antique operating system's non-portable and peculiar ways of doing this is antithetical to the intent of the demo to be...

Transfer C source file from modern Mac to Classic Mac (Basilisk II)

Great thanks for the explanation. I equated resource fork in my mind to Win32 resources, which I do use at times but very reluctantly, and it sounds like there are some similarities (I guess Windows drew on MacOS's design?). I definitely appreciate what you are saying, but I am more of a...

Transfer C source file from modern Mac to Classic Mac (Basilisk II)

Seems like that was the issue. No, I could take a couple other approaches. I'll explain what I'm looking at. I have a 3D demo ("testglobe" https://github.com/trguhq/testglobe/ ) with a bitmap (a series of mipmaps really) that is fundamental to the operation of the program. I actually can fit...

Mac II w/ DayStar 50 MHz 030 accelerator doesn't chime

Over on the VCF forums the advice I've gotten after providing a photo is that the caps have definitely leaked.

Transfer C source file from modern Mac to Classic Mac (Basilisk II)

Ok another question (but maybe I should research this first or create a new thread). If I want to have a static array of larger than 32k, is there any way to do that in Symantec Think C 7? Should I be switching to a compiler that generates native 020 code?

Transfer C source file from modern Mac to Classic Mac (Basilisk II)

I have not been able to figure out what was going wrong in my Unix/shared folder with the project there. First I thought I had made a mistake when creating the project and it thought the project folder was one level above where it was supposed to be (I picked don't create folder and used an...

Mac II w/ DayStar 50 MHz 030 accelerator doesn't chime

I'm having trouble finding much information on Mac II repair on youtube. This machine isn't chiming right now. I've replaced the two 1/2 AA batteries. There was no leakage of the batteries or obvious leaky caps. The machine is extremely clean inside. There was a RasterOps 224 video card, an...
