@Huguenot that is AWESOME and they worked well! Thanks 😁
Still have two of them here and one of the thin"cracker edge" is a little wavey from the handles being held together for decades.
Never thought about using two of them on those tough to open cases. Hmm
I remember some techs just...
That's because you are at risk, even when powered off, the anode can build up a charge.
Got hit by an arching flyback (had a crack in it) once. SMH
So, I've been done decades ago and don't miss it one bit but I do get the CRT nostalgia
I would not pursue the SSD Wear as a culprit. I have an iMac in the shop that only has 22% Life and it's still going. Need to replace - yes!
The standard Fusion config from Apple is NVMe on logic board + proprietary Hard Drive. The factory config with SSD only is a NVME on logic NO Hard Drive...
PA in a "white space" (non metropolitan area). People run computers here until they are obsolete.
We have a small computer museum of about 35 computers. Have Apple II stuff, Mac SE/30, Mac IIci then NO Desktops until G3 series! Still looking. Have some PowerBooks so we are not completely void of...
We receive recycles every business day and I have yet to see one of those models.
Even have a standing request from the largest local recycler "to hold any Macs for me" and its been "crickets"
I did a search of our service database from that time period and almost every PM8500 &...
The cap list post above does not state what version of PAV (Power Analog Video) Board it belongs to.
You have an 820-1145-A Ver2 so the list may not be totally accurate for your version.
There are four PAV Bds in total: (2 x Version1 & 2 x Version2)
Here is the spreadsheet I made at the time...
The last Bondi Blue, that I reconditioned the other month, really did not want to come apart either. Never had this problem back in the day. I would assume that the plastics are breaking down to the point they are not releasing as intended. I normally pull back the area, top part that contains...
Technically you are correct that you don't have to be the original owner, but I've never seen a secondary owner ever have a valid Proof of Purchase that would qualify. Possible though. Buying from eBay and "marketplace" do not qualify.
Most return the item back to the source for a refund...
Nope! You must be the original owner with original proof of purchase + your credentials to even request a EFI Password reset.
The firmware lock is written on the logic board, so you can swap the drive into another machine without issue (just saw your hard drive failed, so correct you will not...
All the booklets from Volume 4 ~ Volume 11 are all distorted like that. Booklets look OK in Volumes 1 ~ 3 & 12 ~ 16. That's just weird! However, if memory serves me correct, support services seemed "rushed" and chaotic when the Market products came out.
Appreciate the follow-up @adespoton
That has been my go to method if connecting an external display does not work. We have ran many Apple laptops "headless" because the logic board does not work with any display, however these were mostly Intel-based and newer. It still should work on G3 & G4 laptops though.
Keep in mind that if...
😘 Wow, that is the hoard of plenty!!!
Tons of work there, but most will never see that amount of old equipment at one time, ever.
The "white box" custom builds normally do not resell all that great complete, but I've found many incredible desirable components inside to sell off on eBay. All...
Scanned User Guide (from the CD Sleeve insert) into a PDF - attached here + uploaded to MG
Need to add some more pics / screenshots + some some more text to the description.
Otherwise it's about complete as it can get from what I have.
Hearing others enjoying this once missing resource is thanks enough! 😊
I still can't believe that no one else had those discs. My mind is blown! 🤯
Is this true? I assumed they were good to go.
I .iso imaged those 6 Discs as well when I was doing the Market Series set.
