Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Thanks LaPorta. If you can send me an uncompressed compatible version of Stuffit that I can just 'share' via BlueSCSI and copy across to my Macintosh Plus that would be great. Thanks!
Thanks very much, finkmac and LaPorta. I have an M1 Mac currently running macOS Sonoma, but these files were transferred to the sharing folder on the BlueSCSI microSD card using MacOS Ventura. Here's a screenshot of the type of error message I'm getting. You'll have worked out by now how...
I owe all of you who replied an apology since I do not seem to have responded here after my original post. As some of you have said it should be simple with BlueSCSI which has a file sharing folder to share files on the microSD card with the Macintosh Plus. I only discovered my lack of...
I used a shared 'SD' folder on the microSD card of my BlueSCSI V2 to copy old Macintosh Plus compatible files from my M1 Mac running MacOS Ventura to my Macintosh Plus running MacOS 7.1. But when I try to open that application in the Macintosh I get the error message 'The document "Disk Copy...
Thanks very much alexGS for that tip about the video pin. Next time I'm working on the Macintosh Plus I'll certainly check that out and take your advice to completely de-solder the pin before resoldering. My batteries fit perfectly and didn't really need the 'fattening' I mentioned once...
Thanks alexGS for that really interesting and useful information. I haven't had my old MacPlus on for long enough to decide if it continues to drift to the left. So it may be that, as you suggest, it will stabilise after a short while. I'll give it a try and see if it stays put in that...
I have a Macintosh Plus 4GB booting into OS 7.1 from a BlueSCSI V2 emulator and working fine. However, although I’m reasonably computer literate on modern Macs I know nothing about many aspects of the older Macintoshes. I want to create the original 800K system disks for either 7.1 or 6.0.8 so...
Thank you very much for that info. The Amazon ones are SMD - can I just solder some wire leads to them? Sorry, you'll have guessed by now how little I know.
I think I understand. The capacitor is 5mm high so I would guess the footprint is about 2.5mm. There's quite a bit of space where it broke off so fitting an alternative, bigger or smaller, shouldn't be an issue. Thanks!
Thank you all for your responses. I've seen some surface mount equivalents online but not this type. Can anyone offer a link to a replacement, preferably in Ireland or the EU. Thanks!
This tiny 5mm high electrolytic capacitor broke off a 30+ year old MicroMac PerformerPro accelerator card for a Macintosh Plus computer. I’m not an engineer and the only label on the capacitor is the info on the top (see attached image) - 22, 6A, 5G3. The capacitor still has a decent size lead...
