already did, several times, and I found some disconnected lines though! -- I repaired them to the point that I was able to get a good chime but no video unfortunately :(
@MJ313 they where quite corroded, to the point that I completely removed them, since the Q700 has onboard ram I am trying to boot with that instead of any ram slots
hey @michaelweare
Unfortunately I have not, I thought it was a bad ram; changed all the ICs; nothing. Checked with a scope the clocks and everything seemed to be well.
I am at a road end, I dont know what else to look for so any suggestion on where to look at or what other diagnostics you...
where is hot you should use 105C where is not as hot then 85C -- for example, on the portrait display pretty much all the caps are rated to 105C, that's because it gets quite hot (the display even comes with an internal fan).
The idea is that the 105C rated caps will last longer than the 85C...
hey everyone, (happy new year!)
alright I'm back -- I went ahead and checked all the on board ram lines on _all_ the connections on all the pages (3, 4, 6, 8, 10 ,20) are correct.
I did noticed that on the PDS socket there was one missing connection -- I fixed it but still I get the same...
ha!, alright alright -- I was checking and rechecking and rechecking the video clock generator circuit! -- I almost memorized it, exchanged resistors allover the place and everything checks out!
@dougg3 interesting, thanks for chipping in, I will be checking all the on board ram data lines on...
Alright, I went ahead and checked on PIXCLK -- According to the DAFBII the PIXCLK input should be 57mhz -- yet I only get 35Mhz as shown in the diagram -- I am not too familiar with measuring clocks but could it be that U30 is bad?
I went ahead and checked the resistors for the crystal (Y3) and...
interesting, thanks for the insight! -- do you happen to know where would this video initialization happen / any suggestions where should I look into for the video initialization?
BTW -- I dont have any battery attached to the machine (but I dont think this matters in the quadra 700)
Hey Everyone 👋,
I am working on a Quadra 700 that was battery bombed -- I managed to fix it so it chimes (good chime) but still I cannot get any video out from it. I already checked several similar posts (https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/quadra-700with-no-video-output.46895/) and went...
Thanks for posting this!, indeed the resistance between 5v and gme is ~13ohm I thought I had a short as well, turns out there is none.
I also have a bombed Q700 and managed to get it to a point where it chimes correctly but I don’t get any video unfortunately:/
