Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
On these older machines when they don’t boot up from ROM and instead have OpenFirmware boot an OS, OF defaults to outputting on the serial port and thus provides no video.
I can’t remember off the top of my head on how to change it without XPostFacto, but I’d take a guess on that being the cause...
I’ve been unable to reset my password due to this issue, and am relying on an old session token on my iPhone to comment here. Hope this gets fixed at some point though, doesn’t seem great that this relies on one person. :/
I don't suppose you've tried adding MacsBug to your 7.6.1 install? I'm wondering if that would give us more information as to what is triggering the Bus Error?
Okay not sure if I was looking at an old copy of the Mac Driver Museum, but this one has the driver:
https://vintageapple.org/macdrivers/nic/cabletron.sit
I think this is more geared towards Cabletron Cards for SE/30 but I -think- it has stuff for the E6xx cards, I'll test this out and report...
I have, it seems that 'Ethertalk/Ethernet' shows up in MacTCP and Network control panel, but when patched into a switch with auto-negotiation turned off and set to 10Mbps, the link never comes up and AppleTalk fails to enable for the card. Granted the card may be damaged, the other two are...
Hey folks,
I've come into possession of three CableTron E6110-X NuBus ethernet cards. However, it seems that the drivers for these are unobtanium, I don't suppose anyone has the driver installer for these?
Pics of this cards are up on the Higher Intellect Wiki...
Can't comment on the polarity except that in my experience that with most peripherals they are usually center positive. Re. the amps, any power supply that can do 1.5A or more would be fine. So you'd be fine using a 2A and so forth, it's just indicative of current capacity of that supply.
Alrighty, this is definitely some kind of power issue. The card seems to be -very- sensitive over sufficient power delivery. So in my 9600 I took out four other PCI cards before I put in the PC Compatibility card. Yup, all looking good, working fine.
I put those four other cards back in, PC Card...
Well, the story got even stranger. Because it's stopped working on the 7600 now. I tried it across different versions of the Mac OS, nada, didn't work. Same issue that hit the 4400.
So just for a crapshoot, I put it in my 9600, lo and behold it works right off the bat. Surely the odds of this...
Okay, I think I've figured it out. It's the 4400's PSU not chucking out enough juice. I don't have the Y-Cable so I can't 'easily' try this in another machine so I put the card in my 7600 and routed the audio thru the 4400. Sure enough the 7600 was able to power up the card, and I got a POST...
