Rominator I on Mac 128K issues

I had worse trouble than you. Mine (not from Kay Koba & it was prebuilt) didn't do squat. I got a replacement "kit", assembled it myself and it worked fine. See https://68kmla.org/bb/threads/rominator-not-working.52136/ for all the testing I did. The fact that your board does so much is good...

    Rominator not working?

I recieved a new Rominator board, with all the parts. Soldered it all together and it works with both the new roms that came with it and my old ones. My guess about the old board (which was assembled by the seller) is that either the 74HCT02 was bad or I missed a short somewhere on the board...

    Rominator not working?

Ah. Yes, both boards are fully functional with the exception of that I haven't tested the serial ports.

    Rominator not working?

Yes, both boards have the original Apple marked roms. Why would that matter? Rominator is taking their place.

    Rominator not working?

I don't know what "OG" roms are.

    Rominator not working?

Yes, I have done that, again. Also, used my 16 channel logic analyzer and seen changing data on all Rominator &7402 pins. Forget to mention that I see good burnish marks on each Rominator pin, indicating they are rubbing on the socket pins. The 512k board is in. Same results. Even soldered the...

    Rominator not working?

Unfortunatly DeoxIT didn't do anything. As I mentioned, I had checked the signal path from the Rominator socket pins to the coresponding cpu pins (+ misc to other, like ROM.E , the 74HCT02 ) ), and also, via logic analyzer saw activity that looked reasonable on both of the rom chips pins too...

    Rominator not working?

I bought the Rominator for my 128k motherboard. I have the 820-0086-C board. Although I've checked every signal (rom address & data pins to cpu pins + ROM.E) and the A17-A19 address & R/W jumper wires. I don't get any boot beep and after 5-8 or so seconds I get a checkerboard video. I don't...

Why not a Static RAM board for 128k Mac?

I dissagree abit about that. While the Memory Manager does indeed work on only a single continious block, it's actually a single Zone that it operates on, and that's a continious block. There is the System Zone and Application Zone. Even within each, there can be sub-Zones. There are traps to...

Why not a Static RAM board for 128k Mac?

Thanks for you insights. Yup, I’m well aware of the video circuitry and how it functions. I don’t intend to replace the 128k existing memory so the screen / audio / etc. buffers stay where they are. My initial thought is to map the new ram at $500000 (or other free area). I’d use the ROM data...

Why not a Static RAM board for 128k Mac?

I have a silly question. But first, I am grateful for all the work put into the memory expansion board detailed here in another thread. Thank You! I have been designing logic circuits since the RTL / ECL days, modifying motherboards and also do assembly language on multiple platforms. So I know...

Struggling to get my Lisa 2/10 to boot from an ESProfile

No, not the Lisa at 115200. The ESP32 USB port when connected to the Arduino IDE.

Struggling to get my Lisa 2/10 to boot from an ESProfile

And ... It looks like there is a lot of debug output (Serial.print(xxxxx) ) if you load the "ESProFile_Emulator.ino" vs the "ESProFile.ino" into the ESP32 via the Arduino IDE. I presume that you will know how to use the serial output window in the IDE with the baud rate at 115200. However, I...

Struggling to get my Lisa 2/10 to boot from an ESProfile

I have a Lisa 2/10 and the ESProfile. Works fine for me. I have it connected as a replacement to the internal drive. I would suggest you try it as a substitute to the internal drive to see that it works there. Also, I note in the documenatation that one pin in the cable the connects it to the...
