MacSurf — a real NetSurf-based browser for Mac OS 9 (CSS3, ES5 JS, native HTTPS)

Yes, you are: I did not even know there was a Discord discussion until it was revealed just now, here on this thread, and not any earlier. I don't even use Discord in general (at least as far as the Garden's Discord goes). So how could I have been referring to it? Please read more carefully...

MacSurf — a real NetSurf-based browser for Mac OS 9 (CSS3, ES5 JS, native HTTPS)

Thank you for the private messages, apology is 100% accepted. Again, sorry from my side as well if, in any way, shape or form I overstepped or said anything that was out-of-order. Again, take your time to "settle down", and make sure to continue on things only if you feel happy with it. Don't...

I was being reasonably careful, as explained so far.

MacSurf — a real NetSurf-based browser for Mac OS 9 (CSS3, ES5 JS, native HTTPS)

Ok, now FINALLY we have some DISCLOSURE of the alleged thought process. Still doesn't explain it at all: the Discord of the Garden is a WHOLLY different beast: almost none of the Garden regulars use it, because Discord is HARDLY accessible from a real Mac OS install. And the Garden FORUM/ARCHIVE...

Please do ellaborate. There's not a SINGLE word I said that is untrue. If there is, show evidence, or argue. In fact, this is not even an attack at you: it's a WARNING for USERS to BE CAREFUL with MacSurf acting suspiciously. And a fair, balanced criticism of how you handled this, while also...

MacSurf — a real NetSurf-based browser for Mac OS 9 (CSS3, ES5 JS, native HTTPS)

That doesn't explain any of the following: - Deleting your existing comments. Nothing to maintain there; - Spending a lot of time and effort to go out of your way to remove ANY mention of Macintosh Garden EVERYWHERE, even going so far as to RE-release Macsurf 2.0 when 2.0.5 was already out. You...

MacSurf — a real NetSurf-based browser for Mac OS 9 (CSS3, ES5 JS, native HTTPS)

OK, I'm here to sound the alarm on MacSurf on something that started SUDDENLY happening just hours ago, that too after I gave multiple, extensive contributions to its latest versions to steer it in the right direction on Macintosh Garden recently: The weirdest part is that this is all...

MacSurf — a real NetSurf-based browser for Mac OS 9 (CSS3, ES5 JS, native HTTPS)

I forgot to mention another, more-relevant consideration that ought to help make viable adding more and more modern web browser features: It would be good if the browser could leverage these when present to speed up some of the processing and, perhaps, also rendering (if they aren't already)...

It does, actually. 9.1 is considerably heavier than 9.2. I think it is also heavier than its immediate predecessor, 9.0.4, which is also generally good at replacing 8.6. For most, but not all, machines stuck at 9.1 maximum, you can use OS 9 Helper. See if you can get 9.2.x running?

Impressive work. Indeed, your work is impressive, and it shows. LLMs with/without agentic coding are merely software tools like any other, such as Excel, or CWPro8, or ResEdit, and so on. While there are many good reasons to favor pure traditional coding, there's absolutely no issue here so far...

Backporting HFS+ to Mac OS 8.0 and earlier

I just came across something that might be of importance. Previously, we all mentioned a few times how important it is to have the "Text Encoding Converter" extension in order for HFS+ to function properly. That is also briefly mentioned in @elliotnunn's GitHub project page. However, what I...

Backporting HFS+ to Mac OS 8.0 and earlier

I also wasn't able to figure out how to use the System resources hosted in the GitHub page, so I just used the actual respective System files directly under Mac OS 9.2.2, obtained from their respective install discs. In the case of DT 8.1 PPC, it should be contained within a disk image that is...

    Read/Write PRAM and xPRAM

@frontein1 Do we have a full list of addresses for every possible PRAM / XPRAM variable there ever was, besides e.g. volume and mouse speed? For example, the flag that determines if a RAM Disk should be used and mounted on boot, and the size of them RAM Disk, to name a couple of them. It'd be...

updated firmware for new world ppc32 macs that allows booting from usb from the boot picker

Thanks @joevt. Before your post, I never knew that "PRAM" still existed in NVRAM-equipped Macs, I thought PRAM got replaced by it. But now I understand that PRAM is contained within NVRAM, and that the various Mac OS versions (Mac OS 9.2.2 and earlier) contain ALL their variables within "PRAM"...
