Help Identifying a G4 CPU Upgrade

Congratulations, I'm glad it works. And I'm also glad you confirmed that a clip for socket 370 works; you could even install a quality heatsink. I hope I can find one someday, but it will be difficult; they're not very common, especially in my area. Enjoy it.

Help Identifying a G4 CPU Upgrade

You beat me to the purchase; I was about to buy it when it sold out. They were never sold in Spain, I was really looking forward to it 😅. I was planning to use a clip from a PIII, socket 370. I hope you enjoy it. 😊

    Rare PCI card

Well, my friend isn't looking to sell it. It piqued our interest, and we thought it might have some "retrocomputing" use, like the x86 cards that were installed in old Macintosh computers. If that's the case, I don't think it'll serve any other purpose than being another item in his collection.

    Rare PCI card

It's strange that it's so little known. I've seen it on eBay for quite a price, but if it's not usable, it doesn't make much sense. At first, I thought it might be some way of "emulating" old hardware, because of the 68020. If I can meet up with my friend, we'll try to find out more.

    Rare PCI card

Hello everyone. A friend of mine found this PCI card with a 68020 chip inside a G4 he bought. What's it for? Is it still useful today? And what software does it need?

    G4 cube dead

One detail. I don't know if you're testing the Cube fully assembled or temporarily, but I discovered on mine that if you leave the metal plate where the power button is mounted unscrewed and without ground connection, when you press the button, it acts as if you were holding it down and turns...

LC / LCII / LCIII / TDK Power Supply Ticking after Recap

Hi, I have a couple of TDK power supplies with a "clicking" problem. I've recapped them, and even tried replacing the optocoupler and C82M (I haven't been able to locate B82M), but the problem persists. I've measured other power supplies without a load and they show stable voltages, but these...

ITXPlus: A ITX Sized Macintosh Plus Logicboard Reproduction

I'm not sure how to help you with this, but a question comes to mind: How does an LC 630 perform a soft power-off? You should be able to take advantage of that method.

    Macintosh LC no sound

Hello. It's been 13 years since this post, and it's pretty much forgotten, but since there's less and less information on the internet these days, I'll explain how I repaired an LC with the same problem. In my case, there was no sound at all. Upon inspection, I noticed that C108 had 12V, but it...

    Quadra/LC/Performa 630 Power Supply Re-cap

I ran more tests, and the PSU is dead. It's not even getting +5VSB voltage. I replaced the optocouplers, I replaced the 7805, and nothing changed. I remembered I had an old micro-ATX PSU in a drawer, and this weekend I adapted it inside the LC630's PSU, and it's back to life. I would have...

    Quadra/LC/Performa 630 Power Supply Re-cap

Well, I haven't had any luck. This afternoon I recapped the PSU and it's still the same. The capacitors looked great, no acid leaking onto the PCB, it was in very good condition. I also checked the fuse, the optocouplers, and the diode bridge, and everything is fine, but it's not showing any...

    Quadra/LC/Performa 630 Power Supply Re-cap

Hello. I have an LC630 that was working fine, with the motherboard recapped, and yesterday it froze. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and now it doesn't respond to the power button either on the tower or the keyboard. Could it be because the PSU is bad? Can the failure be that abrupt?

Power Mac 6500 USB and ethernet cards

Hello, I've done some testing with another USB 2.0 card I found with an NEC chip, and another 8139 network card. This time, with the patcher installed, it seems to power the USB devices, and Apple System Profiler recognizes the USB card (not the 2.0 portion), but it doesn't recognize any...
