    6500/250 Woes

Maybe try DeoxIT contact cleaner on RAM slots? I had success with that reviving a B&W G3 that couldn't boot in manner similar to what you're describing. Could also try it on the edge connector, don't think it could hurt.

Where is the crystal oscillator located on the PowerBook Duos?

Necro post. Same question, wondering if the duo could run at 40MHz... https://www.highox.com/duo2.html

    Blue SCSI for PowerBook 100

Does the PowerBook 100 need the same BlueSCSI v2 "Mac Plus" ini file tweaks that the Macintosh Portable needs? The PB 100 is pretty much a repackaged Portable, but I guess it could have some tweaks? Worth trying if this is unknown I guess: https://bluescsi.com/docs/Compatibility#portable

Apple Extended Keyboard [AEK Numero Uno] - Great Keyboard? Or *Greatest* Keyboard?

AK II fan here. It's small, works ....and doesn't look like a PC keyboard. ;-)

LaserWriter IISC SCSI protocol reversed (for emulator implementation)

Very cool! There are some TA/KB/TIL articles that mention the LaserWriter SC archived here: https://savagetaylor.com/til/articles.html System 7: Using Personal LaserWriter SC and LaserWriter IISC - TIL07861 Power Macintosh 6100 & Personal LaserWriter SC (1994-05-01) - TIL15397 Mac OS 8.x: No...

Hootswitch, a (work-in-progress) Apple Desktop Bus switch

I'm normally silent about forum strife like this and maybe I should have stayed that way... I was in no way saying that anyone should not dispute inaccuracies, and/or offer opinions. In general I just wish the tone was more civil, less judgmental, less mean. Again this is a global statement...

Hootswitch, a (work-in-progress) Apple Desktop Bus switch

My comments were directed at everyone, not sure why you would think they were directed at you vs. others. And I certainly I did not say there was anything wrong with expressing opinions, correcting the record as you see it, I just wish there wasn't snarkiness involved. I'll leave it to others...

Hootswitch, a (work-in-progress) Apple Desktop Bus switch

I really wish we could all find a way to get along better. :-/ It seems like there should be more we have in common than what separates us, we all love vintage Macs! Can we try to see things from other prospectives? Agree to disagree and try to avoid snarky comments? Express our opinions...

    Powerbook 100 scsi chip

AM85c80 Which is a combined SCSI Serial IC. Apple referred to it the "Combo Chip" in hardware development notes, e.g. PowerBook 100 Hardware Developer Note. SCC and SCSI interfaces A custom chip called Combo combines the functions of the SCC and the SCSI controller in a single device. This...

Great post, interesting! Is this a 1MB L2 cache module produced by Apple? Can you post some pictures of it?

Is the Quadra 610 Quaddoubler supposed to work in an LC475?

For what it's worth I have one of these Quaddoublers that came to me in a Centris 610 and it does work* in my Quadra 605 (basically same thing as LC 475). *Mine did not come with a fan so it seems to overheat and lock up the system pretty quick running at 50Mhz in the Q605, at only 40MHz in the...

    Performa 410 68020?

I was looking at some docs I got that originally came with a Performa 475, they covered the "Macintosh Performa 400 Series" that existed in the later half of 1993 (410, 460, 466, 467, 475 and 476) and I noticed that the "Technical Information" booklet says the Performa 410 has a "MC68020"...

    A thread for packing lists

I've been trying to organize my Apple documentation/ephemera and have scanned the packing lists I have as part of that. Ideally I'd love to have all the original boxes and their contents that came with the items in my collection so I've picked things up when costs seem reasonable. It seems...

48MB in a PowerBook 500 Series – an Illustrated Guide

Impressive indeed! Curious, in the last pic, with a finned heatsink like that installed you just don't install the original heat spreader thing?
