I use 8169's in all my PTP's and am happy with them... I'd have to look if they're sc variant or not, but they're cards i bought probably 15+ years ago.... sure they don't get the speeds of a g4, but that's not the point, they get good speeds on a fun machine in old versions of MacOS.

I also bought one from System Source! Honestly, a generic 7.5v adapter should work fine- I'm actually about to go diffing around in my adapters bin, but if I don't have one- the generic ones on amazon should be fine.

reviving this ancient thread... Anyone know what plug type the molex connector's other end is? I recently tracked down one of these adapters and, before I replace it with a floppy plug I figure I should ask if anyone knows what this plug type is.

I'm following up on a report that this is unstable and should be considered experimental because it could result in data loss. Can someone confirm the current state of these hacks, as it may be appropriate to add an [Experimental] or [Unstable] tag to the subject of the thread.
