ZuluSCSI and Quadra 950

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience in getting a ZuluSCSI working with a Quadra 950? I spent a large chunk of the weekend trying to get system 7.6 and mac os 8.1 installed on a ZuluSCSI but have experienced nothing but bus errors and instability. I've tried multiple SD cards, disabling prefetch, limiting to SCSI-1, turning on Apple quirks, changing the selection delay. This Quadra works fine when using a standard SCSI hard disk so I'd be surprised if it's not the ZuluSCSI. I turned on the longer diagnostic logging but nothing in there is jumping out as being a problem.

Thanks!

What firmware are you using? I had some issues with my Q700 and Zulu that were worked out by later firmware versions.

I've tried both the version 1.2.1 and the nightly build from early March. Haven't tried the firmware that was posted today.

I have a Zulu in a Q700 that works as well (so long as prefetch is turned off). Whatever fix was applied there doesn't seem to do anything for the Q950.

The Q950 is supposed to use active termination rather than passive — Google is your friend here — but whether this would impact on a ZuluSCSI device installed in a Q950 is known only to the ZuluSCSI gods. Or maybe not even to them.

In practice what active versus passive termination meant back in the day was that the Q950 had a termination device at the end of the 50 pin cable, much like one sees on some 68 pin scsi cables. It wasn’t supposed to rely on the internal termination available from the drives of the time.
