Using Basilisk II as an internet gateway for your Macintosh

So I got the next level working, TCP/IP over AppleTalk over a null modem using ARA PS and IPNetRouter on Basilisk II. You too can experience dial-up speeds in 2020... https://www.savagetaylor.com/2020/12/17/creating-an-internet-gateway-for-you-68k-macintosh-using-basilisk-ii-ara-ps-ipnetrouter-and-a-usb-serial-null-modem-cable/

Right now I've only tested my LC 475 that is directly connected using the null modem cable.  Tonight I hope to test my SE to see if it can "surf through" my LC 475 across my LocalTalk network.

I also want to try this with 7.1 and Apple's Internet Router software to see if that also works.

I'm not sure whether to sprinkle holy water on this concept to try to exorcise it, or whether to stand up and give it a standing ovation.

Either way, I'm impressed.

Yes it does, It also works with Apple's Internet Router in conjunction with Apple IP Gateway. One down side is that Apple's Internet Router doesn't work with Open Transport. You must run it with Classic Networking. On the other hand, client Macs can connect to it with Open Transport enabled.

I have an ethernet enabled Mac II si booted with 7.5 without Open Transport installed running Apple's Internet Router and Apple's IP Gateway.
There's a string of Phone Net Adapters coming from the Printer Port to other Macs. A Supra ARA Fax Modem separately from the Modem Port. Zones are set for each. ARA PS auto-answers the modem for incoming calls and provides access to 'entire network' (with correct credentials) and IP addresses are assigned to each client. Example clients include Mac SE/30 using Open Transport via MacIP and a Mac SE using a modem via ARA. Both obtain an IP Address and show in the chooser. You can assign Zones or combine all into a single zone.
