Transfering game files from my SE to an Apple //c

Before the site crashed I had this bookmarked because it was an ongoing project for me. I've got the cables I think I need but I can't remember the program I need to transfer disk images I got from Asimov onto my //c via my Mac SE/30. Was it ADT? Thanks for any help!

wgoodf...that's beautiful, thank you! I appreciate the info, it's exactly what I was looking at before but couldn't find it again. I'm pretty sure you were who I was talking to about this before because the cable I bought to do the transfer is the exact one you show in the picture.

wgoodf - quick question.

I've got ADT on my SE/30, I have the two connected with a printer cable from my Apple 4/600 and the cable you show on your page. It's plugged into the modem port on my //c and the printer port on my Macintosh.

When I load Dos 3.3 it says it also loads Integer Basic, is that okay? On the Mac side when I go to install no stars fill the screen on my //c after I type IN#2 then 6B.

Any idea what I might be dong wrong? Thanks man, really!

Is it going into integer BASIC (prompt is ">") or Applesoft (prompt is "]")?

Try the following diagnostics bit:

Grab a terminal program for the SE/30. ZTerm should do the job. Set it up for 300 bps, 8N1.

Connect the cables to your IIc. Make sure the cables are connected to the modem port and not the printer port. On the IIc type:

IN#2

6B

(Ensure that everything is upper case, to be safe. Stuff in <...> refers to a specific keystroke.)

Type something in the terminal program on the SE/30. Is it showing up on the IIc?

I've set up some modems in the past and some tell me when it's set up correctly, does this? When I type IN#2, then 6B, I get nothing. I figured that was par.

Everything is uppercase.

I get no beautiful stars gracing my screen and it never hits the floppy drive. BTW, I formatted the disks for DOS 3.3

Cables don't go bad that often...

I'm grabbing a terminal program now to check the connection.

Type "IN#2" and return-key; to set the standard input to modem port. So remember to stick your cable into the modem/printer port on your //c

Then:

Type "6B" and return-key; to set the speed to 300 baud.

(2) "6B"

I was using the instructions from the 540c Server, which didn't have the part. Either way, it didn't work for me. *sobbs*

I've downloaded ZTerm to my SE/30 but I don't know how to get a local connection with it and my //c...LOL.

The is there to grab the serial card's attention. Without it, it won't know how to respond.

I'm suggesting the ZTerm thing to see if you have the right cabling because there are various types of serial cable. I don't think that hardware handshaking is important in this case, so the only thing that's going to matter is whether you have a modem cable or a null modem cable. The two pretty much look the same (well, as similar as any two serial cables can look -- which is not very!), but there are a few pins switched around.

well the //c bit does look the same as mine.

as does the mac cable so erm...

ok - you have the correct cables, lets say anyway. you are doing the correct thing on the //c so that leaves the mac side.

a differnt port to try?

you are using the adt send on the drop down?

erm.. is there a port setting if you are using the wrong port?
