tiger extension problems (used xpostfacto)

i have and use a Beige G3 AIO as my main computer (to poor to afford anything else).

its heavily upgraded and runs OS 9.2.2 and OS X tiger 10.4.10 fully up to date.

one of my problems is that my Pioneer DVR-110D dont all the time work. i wall have to have a disk in the drive before i power on or reboot or tiger will refuse to use the drive (very rarely will it use the drive without having a disk in the drive on power up or reboot).

it will only play dvd movies and ot music cd's when its working right. but sometimes when it starts to work right it will still stop working and will cause the app that's using the drive to stop responding and i have to force quit but the drive still act's like its stuck working. when this happens i have to reboot to get the drive back and or to be able to use the app that i had to force quit.

so i went to look around inside of OS X to see if i can spot any thing weird. so the first place i went is to looks in ASP at the extensions

here is what i found.

i think my problem lay's with the extension GossamerDeviceTreeUpdater. since its showing a error it must not be fully working properly. i think it has to do with hardware like a optical drive were the drive is either there with no cd in it or is there with a cd in it. and since that extension has a error it might not be updating the device tree properly when i boot without a disk in the drive.

when it's not working ASP still see's the drive but if i click on disk burning with the drive not working it will make ASP stop responding. if i click it with the drive working it will show the drive as supported and what it can burn and use.

even with the drive working i cant copy anything from it to any other device or it will cause it to stop working. and when its working i can start to burn a cd but it will only get to about 5% then the drive will stop working.

here is the weird thing about all of this. in OS 9.2.2 the drive works flawlessly. it will play dvd movies any time, it will play audio cd's any time. it will copy data from the cd or dvd to the hdd any time i want. it will also burn cd-r cd-rw DVD-R dvd-RW.

and when i was using jaguar 10.2- 10.2.8 the drive worked great. but i had to use patchburn to gain burn support. even then the drive worked flawlessly it would burn media just fine.

the only problem with this drive is in tiger. now in 10.4.3 the drive would not work at all even if i booted with a cd in the drive. it would mount the cd on the desktop but as soon as it would try to open the cd or play dvd movies or audio cd;s the drive would stop working,

now i have boiled it down to these extension errors.

R. R. (maker of xpostfacto) dont seem like he cares about xpostfacto cause the xpostfacto forums on OWC his last post was on december 12 2005. he has either died, stop caring about xpostfacto and went to something else ot just got abducted by aliens or apple. he would probably know what to do and how to fix these extension error's. i have tryed to email him but no reply's and this has been over a year since i did this.

its bugging me to death about this ( it alway's did with tiger) cause tiger runs so great its sad to see that something isnt working good.

sorry about the long post and any confusion. i was hoping someone might know about these extension error's in OS X by useing xpostfacto.

thanks all

Frank
