SuperMac Thunder 24 GX Add On Drivers

I think so, guessing it was made to upgrade it to a GX.

I have both, but currently only have the IPA installed, which looks the same as yours. Have a photo of the box?

Got it going! Looks to be working on a IIfx running 7.5.3, PhotoShop 3.0.4. Little later than its time, but seems to be working? Got a fresh reuploaded driver folder download, unstuffed, installed the EARLIEST control panel and filters, and it now works. Each Storm DSP plug in opens (think those are the ones?) and the IP manager now opens and sees the card.

Any blinking light feature like the Radius one to know when it is working?

Also, since I know you have a little experience with these cards, how exactly is the Raster Ops one supposed to work? The about plug in menu works for it, but when you go to use a filter, it freezes PhotoShop. Should I try reinstalling?

Have the following cards installed:
1. SuperMac Thunder 24 with IPA board
2. Radius Precision Color Pro XK
3. Asante Ethernet
4. Radius PhotoEngine(?)
5. RasterOps Photo Pro

I have tried different spots with the RasterOps card. The power supply seems to be very strong, it has been recapped and holds up perfectly with all 5 cards. TattleTech does NOT detect the RasterOps card, but I think in another thread that was normal? Oh, and the error when it crashes is type 1.

Only Radius has led lights no other card. The PhotoPro should load an extension icon at startup. PhotoPro icon.jpg
I would not use all the card at the same time, first the power, second the extensions conflict.

Interesting, your card is different than mine. I have the "Image Processing Accelerator". It was "New in Box", and I just pulled it out today to put it on my SuperMac Thunder/24. There are two much larger footprint DSP chips on mine and a 64 MHz clock crystal.

I guess the "GX" daughtercard is a bit newer and a little bit faster. The DSPs are the same, but the "GX" ones are clearly a shrunk package. Your "GX" card also has that big SuperMac chip on it, which is interesting.

The GX uses 80 MHz DSP16A

Tried PhotoShop 2.5. Crashes the same way. Tried with 7.1. Also crashes. Always says error type 1 occurred. I can try removing other cards, but I don't think that will change anything.

Heres what I just tried:
- Removed Radius card and left RasterOps installed to see if it was not getting enough power. RESULT: No change.
- Reinstalled Radius card, removed RasterOps. Booted. RESULT: Plug icon crossed out.
- Reinstalled RasterOps card. Booted. RESULT: Plug icon not crossed out.

Appears that the card is being detected? Does not appear in TattleTech, but the extension recognizes when it is installed...

Yes, as I said before the card is not recognized in tattletech, but it is working. Could be the developers didn’t use apple standards …

Thank you for the confirmation. So any other ideas on things I can try to get PhotoShop to work with it? It doesn't seem to be an extension/plugin issue, as I have tried it by itself in the PS folder.

Also, here's a photo. Looks the same as yours but has some patch wires. Maybe earlier production?

I installed PS 2.0.1, but plug ins dont seem to work. The about plugins button is grayed out, and there are no other extra RO filters added.

So the plugins are in plugin folder of Photoshop?
Did you delete ps preferenec and create new ones so ps can detect new added plugins?

I deleted it but did not create a new one. I'll try that. Thanks so much for helping, I don't mean to sound needy or anything, but I know you're good with this stuff.

The PS Prefs should be in Photoshop Plug-ins folder. When ps ask you where is pref file create new in plug-ins folder

That was the key -- I was putting the new pref file in the general PS folder. It needed to be with the plug ins. I can now happily say the card is working!

Turns out it only works with PS 2.0.x, not 2.5.x or later (I will now doublecheck by putting a pref file in plugins though). At least, not with the drivers available currently. Now you can add that to your garden page for the PhotoPro :) What an odd card... doesn't show up in TattleTech, and only works with that one version. It's like RasterOps rushed it out the door and then discontinued it.

Thank you very much for your time and help. I now can say I have a Thunder 24 IPA, Radius PhotoEngine, AND a RasterOps PhotoPro all working together. Three DSP cards!

Does anyone have any hi-res pics of the large IC on the Thunder/24 that's just to the left of the Nubus connector?

My card has what looks like a few of the pins on each side of that IC shorted out with super tiny patches of solder.

I don't see any pins bridged on mine...
