Supermac Spectrum 24/III Acceleration == Artifacts on screen

I have a Spectrum 24/III with the daughter card. It's installed in a IIci, with a Daystar Turbo 040.

I'm running 7.1.1 on the IIci.

With the acceleration ON, I get a corrupted display when scrolling the contents of a window.

I've tried turning off Virtual Memory, and I don't have a ton of extensions loaded.

ROM version is 1.1 on the Spec 24

Any suggestions on how to solve? The acceleration does speed up finder windows quite a bit.

Thanks Steve --Looks like the Spec 24 III is not Power Mac compatible. The Turbo 040 is a 68040, and the Supermac card works OK, but it has Quick Draw issues when the acceleration is on under 7.1.1.  My guess is there's a higher version ROM.  This one is 1.1

Started up with No extensions-- no problems. Acceleration was fine.

Turns out that the problem is A/ROSE. But that kills the Apple Ethernet card.

I'll have to swap the card out with an Asante ethernet card.

Interesting.  The Daystar Turbo 040 release notes say it is not completely compatible with A/ROSE, something about the cache.  I wonder if acceleration would be OK with the Daystar removed and keeping the A/ROSE extension.  Of course, I'd choose to have the Daystar 040 rather than the 68000 on the NB card any day.

That's good to know.  I could try without the 040.   I installed an Asante MC3NB card instead of the Apple card and everything works.

Good luck with this, very strange behavior. It's impossible(?) to achieve your config, but makes me wonder if results might be replicated in the IIsi? IIvx could be easily tested. Very curious buggage here.

oldappleguy: any chance you could post the rest of that document. A topic in Peripherals would make a wonderful addition to the growing documentation collection there.
