Stuck trying to reset a "Dual Ethernet" AirPort Base Station back to factory settings

A while back I bought a nice "complete in box" flying saucer style AirPort Base Station, the white "Dual Ethernet" model.

I finally got around to trying to set it up tonight, but I'm stuck. I installed AirPort Admin Utility 2.0.4 on a PowerBook G3 running Mac OS 9.2.2, and connected the PowerBook directly to the AirPort via Ethernet. When I run the Admin Utility it "sees" the AirPort (it is named "kulish" in the current config), but every attempt to connect to it or reset it is met with failure. The AirPort still had an admin password from the previous owner which I lack, so I dug up the "factory reset" instructions. I plugged it into power, waited for all three lights to shine, held the reset button for 30+ seconds, and (as designed) the center light turned on. However, in the AirPort Utility, it still has the name "kulish," and attempting to connect to it gets one of two errors:

- If I've manually set the TCP/IP settings of the PowerBook as per this Apple Support Doc (IP Address 192.42.249.15, Subnet 255.255.255.0, Router 192.42.249.13), I get an error reading "The AirPort Admin Utility was unable to update the settings of the selected base station. -3162"

- If I try to connect to the AirPort without manually setting the TCP/IP settings as noted above (i.e. just using DHCP), I get the error "The AirPort Admin Utility was unable to obtain the configuration of the selected base station. Check to make sure you entered a valid IP address and password and try again."

Any ideas? It sucks that I can't seem to get this thing reset!

Thanks,

Huxley

I have not dealt with that for a long time, but i was able to reset one using the Windows utility rather than the Apple one.
