Sil3132 Flashing (SATA II) (G5) (PCIE)

Hi,

I realized that both Firmtek and Wiebetech sold Sil3132 based controller cards for late-2005 PowerMac G5.

I had a Sil3132 card sitting in a drawer so I decided to give it a try. Fortunately, this card has a 4mbit eeprom.

The firmware file (ROM.3132.2SE2) was taken from Firmtek's latest available update. Flashing it via updflash.exe in DOS mode was easy.

But my 2.0 GHz dual core G5 is unstable with the card installed and a HDD attached to it (WD Green 500GB). Most of the time it will crash during boot or a few seconds past login...

I tried the previous firmware revision (5.3.1.2) and it doesn't seems to be better.



By any chance, does somebody have the wiebetech firmware file ?

btw, I haven't been able to boot from a drive connected to it yet ...

Hi,

I would like to refresh this thread a bit.
I have two (Sil3132 based) different designed cards flashed for mac.
Ofcourse both are partially working or better words both are not working at all (Freezes mac with connected HDD)
One card is Rosewill RC-211 and (I suppose) Belkin F5U197 (blue PCB).
I attached pictures for PCB comparision.
I'm wondering how to mod thoose cards to work with Mac?
From my side I'm gonna investigate this subject in next days.
If you have any questions/sugestions do not hesitate to tell me.

StarTech card pictures taken from internet (I do not have that card) Looks almost same as SeriTek but....

First original SeriTek, 2nd Rosewill, 3rd Belkin?, 4th StarTech
