SE/30 ROM Slot: Replacement possible?

I have been having trouble with a just-recapped SE/30 logic board: "Resource" errors on multiple software installations, bus errors, Finder crashes, failure to recognise RAM, you name it.

After farting around with it for two whole days, more or less, I've discovered on close inspection that there is a bent/ twisted pin in the ROM slot. I've no idea how that happened, but the board was sold to me years ago and had possibly been discarded as troublesome. I am unsure whether the bent pin would not be getting good contact with the ROM simm, or whether it is touching another of the pins when under the pressure of the simm. It's impossible to see and so to tell, but the working hypothesis is that the ROM slot needs fixed.

So if this has got to be fixed, I have the obvious question, how best to do this? Can the pin itself (i.e., the pin only) be extracted and replaced with one from a sacrificial board, can I buy a new one and solder it in, or what logic boards have the same physical ROM slot to remove and use? IIsi, IIci and IIfx only?

IIfx RAM slots will work as well as the VRAM slots from surplus Nubus PowerMac framebuffer cards.

There are a lot of useless battery victim IIfx boards out there that will be good donors.

You can also replace the single pin only.

You will have to remove the whole slot from the logiboard though because the pins slide out to the bottom.

A fly in the ointment appears. Aren’t these vram slots 68 pin? My understanding is the the ROM slot is 64 pin.

Mind  you, I might still be able to use one of the pins.

Ummmm... you’re right, might have to check that again.

IIfx RAM slots it will be then

The pins from the VRAM slots (or a 72 pin RAM slot) will fit though.

I tried Trag, who tells me that he has the sockets I need, so I think I will go with that solution.
