SCSI2SD image copied via dd opens as locked in BasiliskII

I have a SCSI2SD (256MB microSD) that I am using in a LCIII.  The installed OS is 7.5.3 on the SD card, I inserted it into my 2015MBPro, unmounted the 'disk' that appeared and used dd to make an image of the SD card.  Adding that file to the drive images on my Basilisk II installation, the disk mounts fine, but is locked.  My hope is to copy a few items onto the disk image, copy it back via dd, reinstall it into the LCIII and then write those items to floppy or share them via appletalk network to other Macs that I can't get on a more modern network.

1)  Is there any way to unlock the image, so that I can write to it?  Why is it showing as locked?  Is this emulator specific?

2) Has anyone done anything similar and gotten it to work (other emulators, other tools).

When this happens to me it's usually because I absent-mindedly ran dd as root (using sudo) and the resulting file is owned by root so I can't write to it.  Check the ownership and permissions on the image file.

Nice catch - I did create the files as root and did not even look at them after, just went straight to the finder and started using it.  Thanks for the quick and correct response.  I corrected the ownership and the situation was fixed.

Thanks!

I was able to open the image in BasiliskII and experimented with copying a few files to the image, while it was mounted in BasiliskII, followed by writing it back to the MicroSD card and restarting the Mac LCIII.  On boot, it looked like it found the system (happy Mac) then the monitor would go out and it would not boot further.  I restored the MicroSD card from an unchanged backup and the LCIII booted normally.

It occurred to me that maybe the way Basilisk closes the disk files on shutdown may not be the same as it was when it is unmounted, so I tried ejecting the disk within Basilisk and then writing the file to the MicroSD card.  Doing it this way worked and the Mac booted normally from the modified disk image.

Is there a way to mount this raw file image to Minivmac?
