Radeon 9200 PCI card issues in Beige Power Macintosh G3 w/OS 9.2.2

I have a genuine Mac edition Radeon 9200 128MB PCI video card that I cannot get to work in this computer. I have tried all 3 PCI slots. Every set of drivers both official and patched that I have tried have the same issue. The mouse cursor moves around, but I cannot click on any menus or icons on the desktop. The logic board is a Beige Power Macintosh G3 Revision 2 with a Revision C ROM. I have also tried on an older Revision 1 motherboard with a Revision A ROM and gotten the same results. The problem appears to the the ATI 8500 3D Accelerator extension. When I remove that I can click on icons and menus again. I think this extension is needed for full operation of the video card. Any help on this would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks!

Does the sticker say "9200" or "9250". What drivers did you install?

The 9200 isn't officially supported in OS9, but can be made to work just about.

@Phipli It says 9200. I tried the official ATI January 2005 plus the July 2005 update drivers for OS 9 from ATI. I tried the patched drivers for Mac OS9 Lives Mac Mini G4 OS 9.2.2 as that also has a Radeon 9200 onboard video.

I don't know why, but the MacOS9 Lives install drivers don't work with mine, but the January 2005 drivers do... I think. These cards always a pig to get working sorry.

The July update might have made my B&W crash? I have a terrible memory sorry.

I will try the January 2005 drivers minus the July 2005 update and see what happens.

I finally threw in the towel trying to get the video card working on OS 9. That being the case I did the next best thing. I installed a Sapphire Radeon 7000 64MB PCI card. That is working just fine and is at least much better than the Rage Pro Turbo 6MB onboard video.

It’s a tad late, perhaps, but I have similar issues with almost the identical setup. The only difference is I have a G4 400 ZIF upgrade. The System occasionally freezes but the cursor move. I always had issues with MacOS 9.2.2 and my G3 systems. What I did to solve it was to install the drivers in MacOS 9.2.2 and then move them to 9.1. However, I have yet to make a ROM upgrade; mine is 120 and has some minor distorted graphics when displaying 2D graphics. What ROM version did you use in your Radeon 9200? Since I was considering upgrading the ROM to 124 and hopefully removing the distortion.
