Q950: ADB not working?

Help me figure this one out. I'm in the process of liberating a Q950, and the ADB doesn't work. Pulled the Nubus cards thinking 3 digidesign cards were pulling too much power, and the ADB would be the first to go. That, I think was not the case. Replaced the battery, and that did not work.

Any thoughts? Just shoot them out here and I'll try them all...

Have you checked the key? The key has three positions:

On: The Mac runs normally

Off: The Mac is turned off

Secure: The ADB port and floppy drive are disabled

I'd say that its set to Secure. Try turning it to On and see if that helps. If you don't have a key, you may have to hot-wire it.

damnit.

Thanks.
That is a common mistake with the 900 and 950...especially those sold missing those keys...People end up hot wiring 'em, or picking up one of those keys..and voila! off to the 68k 950 races..

Yea, my last 950 was from a person who thaught it was dead, and didn't have a key. One of my 950 keys fit so I didn't have to rig it (a couple HD jumpers on the MB would have worked).

Yeah, everything worked. Total facepalm moment there.

On the bright side, I just liberated a Q950. Swapped the HD from my Q700 so I'd have everything where I wanted it. Looks like it was previously used just as an internet machine (!). Lots of benchmark software, too.

Right now it's running with 3 nubus cards in it: 2 digidesign 442s and the scsi accelerator that comes with those cards. Have a 40-odd-gig hard drive hooked up to the accelerator so I can now record WEEKS of CD quality audio.

I think I'm going to put my houdini card in there as well, for some old school DOS gaming under windows 95.

Now it's just needing a video capture card for the ultimate in 1992-93 era multimedia extravaganza. Any suggestions on a card & software?

Pretty nice setup, if I do say so myself.

The video capture cards tend to work well with a specific OS revision, so it depends what OS you are going to run.

Media 100 is nice if you can find it, you will need a fast SCSI card with it.

Would have to see what the final version of Radius Videovision needs for an OS.
