Problems With Keyspan USB-Serial Adapter (USA-28)

I received today in the mail a Keyspan USA-28 USB adapter for my B & W G3 (which is housing a G4 board & running 9.2.2; my youngest sister will be using this computer for the majority of the upcoming school year). The adapter appears to work, but only with both of my ImageWriter IIs. When I attempt to print from my LW 300 (using driver version 1.2) or SW 1500 (DV 2.2.1) via the Keyspan adapter, the printer does not respond, and I receive a dialog box stating that the printer is not properly connected.

As a result, I have a couple of questions:

(1) What type of Apple legacy printers are compatible with 9.2.2?

(2) If the LW 300 & the SW 1500 are compatible with 9.2.2, what driver versions do they require to operate with 9.2.2?

(3) Is the Keyspan adapter compatible only with certain Apple legacy printers?

Keyspan adapters only support rs232 serial. I believe the newer printers you have that don't work require Appletalk/Localtalk support. To my knowledge no USB adapter speaks it.

In regards to the LW 300, I found this link on the Apple Support site where someone managed to print to their 300 on a G4 running 9.2.2 (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/375087?start=0&tstart=0). However, now I've run into another problem:

DSC06840.JPGFor some reason, I cannot access the Extensions Manager. I'm not sure why (or how). If there is a way of overriding this without performing a fresh install of the OS (which isn't an option for me since I do not have the 9.2.2 installation discs), let me know.

Maybe I'm missing something, but looking at that support thread doesn't it say that the printer is actually connected to a beige G3? (And the question is about printing to it from the G4 via network?)

Yes, the printer is connected to a beige G3, but he's printing from the G4. I don't mind setting up a network between my 5215CD (which is running OS 8.1), and the B & W G4, but now I can't get access to the Extensions Manager, which is another problem in itself.

As it stands, my sister can use the IW II with both colour, and black ribbons to get the job done, but that leaves a perfectly decent working LW 300 (with fairly new toner) sitting in storage.
