PowerMac 9600 with XLR8 MACh Speed card won't boot / gets hot

I have a 9600 with an XLR8 MACh Speed processor card. It's unclear what speed or generation chip is installed. The Mac gets power (LED lights) but no chime. After a few minutes the processor card gets extremely hot. 5v/12v rails are okay.

I don't have another card handy to swap test. Is this likely to be an issue with the card, the processor itself or something else?

The markings on the card are pretty generic. If you know which processor/speed this is please let me know.

Thanks!

After a little digging the card seems to be their "Universal adapter for installing Standard Power Macintosh G3 ZIF upgrades into PCI PowerMacs"

If the processor itself is toast I guess it's just a matter of finding another G3 processor to toss into the ZIF socket?

Found more info. I lifted up the foam around the processor and found it's a "PPC750L-EB0A466". I'm assuming that means it's a G3 466MHz processor.

If that's the case the dip switches on the card seem very wrong.

Pic below of the current settings and a table of settings from the manual. It looks like they should be set to 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 - 9 ,1 2.

I'll try that out tomorrow, but if anyone here has other advice, please let me know.

Looks like fat fingers have messed up the CPU settings - hopefully setting to their right position should make it function.  Try at 466, then 500 for a mild overclock.

Yeah it has a heat sink. I just took it off to try to determine the processor model. I did try setting the switches to 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 - 9 ,1 2 but got the same result. I hope the processor isn't toast.

@elemenoh You are right it is 466mhz.  If you want I can send you a G3 500mhz or a G4 450mhz if you think the processor is bad.  I have several.
