PowerBook 160 Screen issues

I was wondering if someone might recognise what could be at fault here - the screen didn’t give a picture at all and so I recapped it and the inverter board.

Now it fluctuates from almost good but with a back line in the middle (as seen in the picture) to bright and useless where one can’t see anything.

I’ve adjusted brightness and contrast but it doesn’t affect the fluctuations on the screen…what is the most likely culprit here?

Could be some dirty potentiometers (contrast slider) causing improper readings involved. I'd guess as well though that there's some cap leakage/bad connections at fault as well.

Thanks, yes I suspect I’ll have to redo the recapping and make sure to clean properly…maybe something for Marchintosh.

I’ve removed the old caps now (that I put in last year) and waiting for the replacements.

I’ve done quite a bit of soldering since then and the solder joints of these did not look good. I’m hoping cleaning and new caps - more skilfully installed - will do the trick.
