Powerbook 150 Issues

Been trying to figure out why I keep burning up diode's on PB150 logic boards... The D22 diode right near the input connector. I've been using a PB100 recapped power supply that is 7.5V and 2.0AH.... and it's not working.. I can hear clicking actually in the adapter when I depress the powerbook's power button..  The adapter is fine... I run it perfectly before and after on a PB100. Then I try a PB140/170 7.5v, 3.ah one... and that one seems to finish off the diode... This is perplexing to me... And I've swapped out all the other boards (recapped) to see if possibly one of them was doing it.. The only thing that remained original was the HDD and the floppy drive..

Originally I thought the issue was two of the boards the battery leaked onto the board and ate up a little... things didn't look too good but I'd figure to try anyway.. So today I put in a perfect PB150 logic board and the same thing happened but I didn't completely fry the diode.. it's still in ok condition.. but I know it may have issues internally... so I'd like to replace it...

I have no idea what diode or values to find... This is what the diode says on it from top to bottom:

KW

4J

GI

The other board's diode just has GI and KW.....

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Perhaps!!! I will disconnect them in the next test... after I replace the diode... :)

Any hint on what value diode I should be buying?? I would like to buy the right one... Technight said I could grab one off an old 140 board or look for any DO214 diode... I would like to get the proper one... :) And he had a point.. perhaps previous owners used the wrong adapters on it!!! Or for the others when the battery leaked they plugged it in and it overloaded it...

Ok so soldered on new diode... Plugged a regular pb100 adapter in it without ANYTHING attached to the logic board and hit the power button and reset buttons... Left it there for a while.. also tried another pb100 adapter... No smoke, smell or burning.. after unplugging touched the diode and it's not hot... So it appears it is fine... Now when I install it I will not hook up hard drive or floppy.. Of course there is no battery.. And see how it goes.. The only thing is does the PRAM battery on the display board need to be there?? I removed the exploded battery but does it require one?? I wouldn't think this would cause my dying diodes issue...

You can remove the PRAM battery, I also did it on my two PB150 and they still work. You only lose time and date.

Ok so the board works with the new diode... I systematically connected each thing and it was still working.. the only thing I didn't was the display.. I am in the middle of recapping the actual display... Perhaps the failed leaky caps on the display overloaded it??? Not sure.. didn't think that could do it... anyhow's it's working with the new diode... It's a mystery... As Techknight mentioned to me perhaps the idiotic previous owner's plugged in wrong power supplies... who knows...

That is a reverse protection diode as I had mentioned before, some doface plugged the wrong adapter in it. period.

what is the model number for the new diode? I plugged in the wrong power adapter and need a new diode.

Oh geesh this was so long ago.. I believe I still have a bunch of the diodes I used to fix it. I can send you one. PM me. :)

I'm really new here so I don't know exactly how to do that. I started a conversation with you but I'm not sure that's what you meant.
