Power Mac 6100 DOS Compatible

I was wondering about trying to flash the 5500 back, but remember the flash tool would only dump but not reflash the Mac ROM at the time.
If it’s the genuine Mac version (with the DVI port) the Mac firmware update utility should happily “update” it back to the Mac ROM. You’ll just need a second video card (or onboard) to interact with the utility.

Top download should contain what you need…

I've now got the system up and running nicely. It has 24 MB RAM, and the PC has 16 MB too. There seems to be a SCSI gremlin when it's cold, but not sure if that is in my ZipPlus or the 6100 itself as it resolves if I disconnect the ZipPlus.

I've installed MacOS 8.1 and Windows 95 with PC Setup 2.1.7. Now considering going back to my driver "configuring" days to attempt to get Windows 95 in 256 colours, 16 colours is painful and the Windows 95 default driver won't handle 256 colours.

I know it's a cliche, but have you confirmed the last device in the internal scsi chain is set to be terminated?

I know it's obvious but "my SCSI is acting inconsistently" has one response 😆

I have Win95 on mine and don't remember what driver stuff I did when installing, but I have 256 colors at 640x480. I leave it at 16 colors at 800x600 for the extra screen real-estate though. Let me know if you want me to look at how I have something configured, or I could even find a way to send you my PC Setup C drive file. Monitor configuration on the Mac side is just a "Multiple Scan Display" (VGA adapter going to a LCD).

Yep, it didn't boot from cold this morning until I disconnected the ZipPlus drive - but the ZipPlus has extra special termination, they messed something up and you cannot connect anything to it. It's been happily at the end of the SCSI chain since the 90's though.

After disconnecting it (and letting everything warm up a bit more, it was around 12 C when I turned it on) it then worked fine all day...

But the internal termination - the hard disk and the CD? Which is at the end, and is it terminated?

Ah interesting. I am just using the 1.6 drivers at the moment as my copy of PC Setup 2.1.7 doesn't appear to even execute in Windows 95

Errm good question, it has the original HDD/CD combined cable plugged in as from the factory - The HDD will be second on the chain and I've pulled it and put my ZuluSCSI RP2040 in place, which should be set to terminated.

One thing I did think of - software on it - it was used in a print shop before being retired. It appeared to have a lot of german stuff:
* Hermstedt Leonardo/LeoLink drivers (which I can't find anywhere else, and the previous owner hoarded the dmgs, too),
* RagTime 3.2 (full - only seems to be the free version about, i'll have to try and archive it)
* Telekom telefonbuch (not sure anyone wants a 1996 german phonebook though)
* Various copies of Word and Excel (seem to be on the garden already)

I actually have a decent workflow to get stuff to the Garden now, will also upload Bentley Microstation 68k too.
