Performa 630 J14 connector?

Picked up a couple of Performa 630 computers and one of them had a motherboard I had never seen before. In addition to 2 memory slots, it also has a connector at J14 that looks like the video-in slot but smaller. I don't see this referenced in the service manual. Does anyone know what this is? See bottom left of picture for J14. And yes, the SMD electrolytic have been removed in prep for re-cap.

That’s basically a Performa 580 logicboard.
It was used in the Performa 630 DOS Compatible.
J14 is indeed a video in connector that’s used by the DOS card.

How close are these boards in functionality? Could a “normal” Performa 630 board support the DOS card if the video connector is added? It appears to have a space for the connector, but the actual connector is not mounted.

Well dang, I wish this 630 would have had the DOS compatible part still in it.

The space is there, the pads are there or both?

It would be interesting to try the PC Card using only a dedicated second display on its Octopus Cable, without implementation of screen swapping with the Mac.

Haven't looked at my Apple setup in ages, been toying with the Reply setup in the 6290 now and again.

edit: pulled the boxes out. Looks like the DOS Card only has a DA15 connector, not for an Octopus setup? Apple video out?

I believe the DOS card shares video out with the Mac. And then there’s a joystick port on the PDS daughter-card, for games.

Regarding space and pads, the “normal” 630 board appears to look quite different in the DOS card J14 area. But there are white corner markers printed on the board and it looks like there are pads for something.

Too bad that it's only a game port. I like the Reply PC Card's Octopus Cable with Serial (DE9), Printer (DB25) and Video (DA15) implemented. There's also a DA15 sticking out the LC Card Port that's probably a game port. A little double ended edge card connector PCB joins the MLB video connector with like connector inverted on top level card above.

Reply board set may be PPC only as it requires a slot opening as on the 6360. Some of the later LC Slotted 630 form factor PPC cases had a plug in the back for its wide Octopus Cable connector.

Dunno, that stuff is waaaaaay down on my list of to play withs.
